Congratulations to Patrick and Kathryn Groeninger, who received their Trail Quest at New River Trail State Park! 🎉

🥾 They started their Trail Quest journey almost two years ago when their son, Sean, started as an intern with Virginia State Parks.

He recently presented them with their Master Hiker certificate as he wrapped up the 2026 Ranger Conservation Corps program. 🎖️

Some of their most memorable visits include:

💚 Best hike: Ephemeral spring flower hike at Sky Meadows State Park
💚 Best view: Molly’s K**b at Hungry Mother State Park
💚 Kathryn’s favorite park: False Cape State Park
💚 Patrick’s favorite park: Grayson Highlands State Park

“Thank you to everyone at Virginia State Parks for a challenging and fun program. Virginia is a gorgeous and diverse state, and the state parks are a wonderful way of experiencing its beauty, history and nature.”

Seats are limited. Please pre‑register at the Discovery Center or call 276-781‑7400 to save your spot.
