Yesterday was all about Kombucha 101! 🫙✨

I spent the day at the Little Rock State Office for Food Preservation Essentials: Kombucha 101 training. We dove into the science behind fermentation, food safety, proper brewing methods, and everything that goes into making kombucha safely at home.

One of my favorite parts of Extension is continuing to learn so I can bring reliable, research-based information and new programming back home to Crittenden County. 💚

Now… who’s ready for a kombucha workshop?! 👀🫧

Thank you to the hard work of farmers, producers, and everyone who keeps Arkansas agriculture moving! 💪

I had such a great time visiting Marion High School and sharing a little about what a career in Extension can look like! 💚

We talked about the many hats an Extension Agent wears, the work happening right here in our community through the Crittenden County Farmers Market, and how local programs can grow into something much bigger — including the opportunity I had to present my work on rural communities, nutrition access, and local partnerships at a national conference in Utah!

The students jumped in with questions, ideas, and sticky-note activities about community needs, careers, and ways we can make an impact right where we live.

One of my favorite things about Extension is showing young people that your career doesn’t have to fit neatly into one box. You can teach, create, lead, research, serve your community AND keep learning along the way. 🌱

Thank you, Marion High School, for having me and letting me share a little piece of what I get to do! 🫶

🌱 Farm to ECE is growing right here in Crittenden County!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the Arkansas Farm to ECE Coalition’s Farm-to-Table meeting at the 4-H Vines Center in Little Rock. It was a great day of connecting with partners from across Arkansas, celebrating the work that has already been done, and looking ahead at how we can continue bringing healthy food experiences and agricultural learning to our youngest learners.

I’m especially excited about what’s coming right here at home!💚 Steudlein Learning Center in West Memphis will soon be receiving Arkansas-grown foods AND new garden boxes, giving our little learners the chance to experience local food from the garden to the table. 🌱🥕🍅

These are the kinds of partnerships I love—connecting Arkansas agriculture, nutrition, and hands-on learning in ways that directly benefit children and families in Crittenden County.

Big things are growing, and I can’t wait to watch these little hands dig in! 🌻💚
