Memorial Day Closure Notice

The Foothills Health District will be closed on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we also pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

We will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

🚨 Rabies has been confirmed in neighboring Rutherford County. While there are no reported human exposures, this is an important reminder to protect what matters most.
🐾 Make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccines and avoid contact with wild animals.
Stay alert. Stay protected.

🚨 Rabies Alert in Rutherford County 🚨

The first case of rabies in 2026 has been confirmed in Rutherford County after a groundhog in the Gilkey Township area tested positive. There have been no reported human exposures at this time.

🐾 What this means for you:

-Keep your pets up-to-date on rabies vaccinations
-Do not allow pets to roam freely—this increases their risk of exposure
-Watch for unusual behavior in animals, especially in the Gilkey Township area over the next several months

💉 Rabies Vaccination Reminder:

-Required for all dogs and cats starting at 4 months of age
-Booster at 12 months, then every 3 years

🐶 Low-cost vaccines are available through Rutherford County Animal Control:

-Monthly clinic: First Tuesday, 10 AM – 4 PM ($5 per animal)
-Beginning July 14: Monday–Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM ($10 per animal)
