🎉 Great news, Grant County!

Beginning Monday, July 13, 2026, the south entrance of the Grant County Courthouse will once again be open to the public. The courthouse steps have been beautifully refinished and brand new stair treads have been installed to enhance both safety and appearance. We look forward to welcoming everyone back through the south entrance!

The datacenter subcommittee meeting will be canceled this week 7-8-26, due to some of the members conflicting schedules.

The Grant County Area Plan Sub-Committee will continue its review and discussion of the proposed Data Center ordinance during two upcoming public meetings.

These meetings are part of the ongoing drafting and review process. Discussions will focus on potential ordinance language and related county considerations, including roads, drainage, water use, emergency response, land use, infrastructure, and other issues that may impact Grant County.

The subcommittee’s work is advisory only. Any proposed ordinance language would still be required to move through the public hearing process before the full Area Plan Commission, as required by Indiana law, and then proceed to the Grant County Commissioners through the appropriate public process.

Grant County remains committed to a transparent, organized, and thoughtful review process focused on what is best for our residents, communities, and future growth.

These meetings are part of the drafting and review process. The purpose is to continue discussion of possible ordinance language and related county impact considerations, including roads, drainage, water use, emergency response, land use, infrastructure, and other county interests.

Grant County is continuing its review and discussion regarding the proposed Data Center ordinance.

🚨This is an Area Plan Meeting! Not a Commissioners meeting 🚨

A public meeting on this topic will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the County Council Chambers located at 402 S. Adams Street.

At this stage, the process remains in the drafting and review phase. No final decisions have been made. Current discussions are focused on carefully evaluating potential impacts involving roads, drainage, water usage, emergency response, land use, infrastructure, and other county interests before any final ordinance language is considered.

A subcommittee has been meeting to review ideas, concerns, and possible ordinance wording. That work is advisory only. Any proposed ordinance language would still move through the full Area Plan Commission in a public hearing before requiring final approval from the Grant County Commissioners.

The goal throughout this process is to remain transparent, organized, and focused on what is best for Grant County and its residents.

The Commissioners are cancelling the remaining listening sessions for Exit 255 and will no longer pursue development for that area. The survey will remain open for anyone who would still like to provide input.

The Grant County Commissioners are currently gathering data and community feedback regarding the Exit 255 area, based on the County Comprehensive Plan and the BCS Management Study.

There are no planned developments or projects at this time. This process is simply to determine whether residents would want the Commissioners and/or the Town of Fairmount or Gas City to focus on this area as part of future long-term planning.

The Commissioners also want to be clear that there are no plans for, nor any involvement with, data centers on unincorporated land.

It is the responsibility of the Commissioners to study options carefully, gather facts, and make decisions with transparency, fiscal responsibility, and the long-term interests of the community in mind. We will continue sharing updates as information is gathered.

As your Grant County Commissioners, we are exploring the future potential of the I-69 / SR 26 interchange (Exit 255). A recent feasibility study identified possible opportunities and infrastructure needs in the area, but before any decisions are made, we want to hear directly from you.

Your vision, your concerns, and your questions matter. This is about the future of Grant County — and we believe it should be shaped with public input.
