Today was the 75th National Day of Prayer, and I was blessed to spend it with the good people of Marion. As we near 250 years as a nation, I’m grateful we’re still a people who pause to seek God together. That’s always been at the heart of what makes America, and Virginia, worth fighting for.

“Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples.” — 1 Chronicles 16:24

I was honored to be at the Chilhowie Bluegrass JAM-Boreee tonight to recognize them as the newest Crooked Road affiliate venue.

The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail recognizes our region’s musical heritage and plays an important part in attracting visitors from all over the world to Southwest Virginia.

It’s truly an honor to represent such a culturally and historically rich part of the Commonwealth in the House of Delegates.

Excited to welcome the VA250 Mobile Museum to Grayson County today! VA250 is an initiative to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of American Independence, which is this July 4th.

I joined Grayson County Sheriff Gary Hash, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Mike Hash, Supervisor Sandy Cunningham, and Grayson County staff for the occasion today. The mobile museum will be at the Grayson County Courthouse through Thursday. I encourage everyone to check it out and learn more about the important role the Commonwealth has played in our country’s history.

See the attached flyer for operating hours.

Today, I’m in Richmond for the beginning of the General Assembly’s Special Session. The reason for this special session is to allow for completion of the state budget-an essential duty of the legislature.

We also have learned that we are no closer to a budget agreement between House and Senate Democratic leadership than when we left Richmond last month and we likely won’t have a budget until June. That’s right, with full control of the state government, Democrats cannot agree amongst themselves on a budget.

This is a failure of Government. Localities and essential state funded agencies do not know how much money they will be receiving from the state, thus making budgeting very difficult. I am hopeful that the Democratic leadership can quickly come together, put differences aside, and get to work for the people of the Commonwealth.

BIG WIN: Tazewell Circuit Court actually enjoined the certification of the election!!

UPDATE: From the Tazewell Circuit Court, the Judge reaffirmed all prior rulings, declared the referendum as unconstitutional and the amendment process of HB 1384 as unconstitutional. He entered injunctive relief and specifically enjoyed the certification of the election. He denied a motion to stay pending appeal. A final order will be entered once drafted.

It was an honor to join fellow Virginians at the Virginia March for Life in Richmond today.

The turnout was a powerful reminder that the cause of life remains strong in the Commonwealth. I was proud to stand with colleagues and constituents who believe every life deserves dignity and protection, and who are committed to supporting mothers, families, and children at every stage.

The work continues in the General Assembly, and I remain committed to being a steady voice for life.

Congratulations to Colton Perry from Grayson County on winning Grand Champion in his category in today’s 4-H contest.

Colton visited us in Richmond this General Assembly session to learn more about the legislative process. His 4-H project detailed “How a bill becomes a law.”

Congratulations to Colton and all of the winners and participants!
