Tomorrow, 05/12/26, there will be a firm in the city to evaluate and make repairs to a few of the city’s tornado sirens. This may possibly require the activation of sirens intermittently between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Please be aware that if you hear them it is only for testing purposes.

Marion Fire Department recently took delivery of 2 Sutphen Aerials in late 2025. A 100ft SPH 100 Platform and a SL75 ladder. We’ve been training daily to make sure our firefighters are trained appropriately to respond to any emergency and perform efficiently with the new apparatus.

Tonight was training for response to an incident at one of our many hotels.

Thank you to Mayor Brick, City Council and the public for making this huge addition to our fleet possible.

ALERT

With possible severe weather expected later this evening, please be aware that all tornado sirens are currently out of service. The water tower near the high school is being prepared for painting, and the antenna that operates the sirens has been temporarily removed, which may prevent them from receiving the activation signal.

We encourage everyone to monitor local TV stations, weather radios, or trusted weather apps on your phones and other devices for alerts and updates.

Your safety is our top priority — please stay weather-aware and have a plan in place.
