Yesterday at 2:47 p.m., a call came in, reporting a large residential structure fire on O'Dell street in Marionville. Initially, there were five of our firefighters who rushed to the scene and began working to extinguish the fire until more help arrived.
Unfortunately, Crystal Anderson Harter and her family lost their home. It was a total loss.
Thankfully, they got out with their lives, but sadly, their 2 dogs are still missing, but not believed to be in the fire. They are likely scared and running. Please be on the lookout for them.
A total of ELEVEN fire departments responded to the call to help their neighbors, and we are extremely grateful for their quick response, and for their support. It was 95 degrees yesterday, so THANK you for your response, and for fighting alongside us.
We are a 9 member department, and fighting a fire of this magnitude took everyone pulling together, and we are truly grateful.
Thank you to the first responders, the Marionville Police Department, Marionville Firefighters Auxiliary, neighbors who blocked traffic, guarded hoses, and the citizens who stepped up and brought water, and gatorade and helped in any way they could.
Due to the size of the fire, crews were on scene for several hours, and had to be called back out at 10 p.m., and again at 8 a.m. this morning to re-extinguish the fire.
A fund has been set up for Crystal Harter and family at the Bank of Billings, to help them get on their feet. Please consider helping in any way you feel led to do so.
A special thank you goes to Marionville Police office Amber Brookes, who was first on scene and courageously helped in getting the family out. We would also like to thank the following Departments who responded.
