For the past month, the library has been taking part in One Book, One Coast, which is a book club for the entire West Coast. The book being read this year is "They Called Us Enemy." The book focuses on Executive Order 9066.

On Wednesday, June 3 from 5:30-7 PM, the library will host a special event that reflects on the book, as well as a presentation that will feature activities, actual items from one family's days in the confinement sites, as well as a short video on the present-day memorial of the confinement sites, Ireicho.

This event is free to attend. Reading the book is not required to attend. To learn more, call 209-966-2140.

Check out our Community Cookbook Project next time you stop into the Mariposa Library. On the wall near the circulation desk, we have a beautiful display of books related to foods, cooking, etc.

We also have a Community Cookbook in a binder, which patrons can browse and make photocopies of when they find a recipe that interests them.

Finally, we have some Native American recipe food cards unique to our area available as well. These cards were donated by Mariposa County Public Health.

It's all part of getting to know one another and sharing foods and meals that we enjoy. Stop by and check it out! The library is located at 4978 10th Street.
