Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

On this Memorial Day, the members of the Marissa Fire Department extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served our nation and especially to those who gave their lives in defense of it. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends today, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember the heroes who gave everything for our country.

🇺🇸 We Remember.
🇺🇸 We Honor.
🇺🇸 We Are Forever Grateful.

From all of us at the Marissa Fire Department, thank you to our veterans, active military personnel, and the families who continue to serve alongside them.

🚁 Helicopter Landing Zone Training Tonight 🚁

Tonight, members of the Marissa Fire Department will be conducting helicopter landing zone training with ARCH Air Medical Service - Sparta, IL Base at the fire station.

Residents in the area may notice increased emergency vehicle activity, bright lights, and loud helicopter noise during the training exercise.

This is a planned training event only and there is no emergency.

Training like this helps our firefighters and EMS personnel prepare for real-life medical emergencies requiring air medical transport and ensures we can safely establish and operate landing zones when every second counts.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and support as we continue training to better serve and protect our area. 🚒🚁

On Saturday, members of the Marissa Fire Department participated in a hands-on vehicle extrication training to sharpen the skills needed to safely and efficiently rescue trapped patients during motor vehicle accidents.

Training focused on:
🚒 Scene safety and stabilization
🚑 Patient access and rapid removal techniques
🔧 Hydraulic rescue tool operations
🚗 Vehicle stabilization techniques
⚠️ Incident command and teamwork under pressure

Realistic training like this helps ensure our firefighters and EMS personnel are prepared when seconds matter most. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this training possible and all of our members who continue dedicating their time to improving their skills for the community we serve.

We would like to send a HUGE Thank You to J&S Service And Towing in Sparta, IL, for providing these vehicles to us to use for training!

J&S Service & Towing has proven its commitment over the last several years to helping local first responders with their training and emergency response needs and we couldn’t be more grateful there are still companies out there like them that support our efforts!

THANK YOU!
