We are so excited to honor Kristina Gray with the Partner in Action Award at the Fueling the Future Gala!
Kristina Gray is the person who sees a student’s potential and then actually does something about it.
As an Employer Relations and Internship Specialist at Governors State University, Kristina has spent nearly a decade making sure students do not just graduate with a degree but step into careers with real experience behind them. She runs the university’s career fair, oversees the Illinois Cooperative Work Study Grant, and has made it her personal mission to connect young people to opportunities that change the trajectory of their lives.
Her partnership with MYTT has been exactly that. A real partnership. Through her work, Governors State University students have been placed in meaningful internships that bring STEM education directly to underserved youth in our community. She believes the right opportunity at the right moment can change everything. We believe that too.
We are proud to present her with the Partner in Action Award and even prouder to call her a partner in this work.

We are thrilled to announce that Yohan Fernando will be receiving the Changemaker Award at the Fueling the Future Gala!
Yohan has been in MYTT’s corner for a long time, but from 2023 to 2025, he served as Board President and gave everything he had to this organization and the young people we serve. His leadership during that time was transformative. Not just in strategy or governance, but in the way he showed up with a genuine commitment to ensuring our students had the best possible opportunities.
The Changemaker Award honors individuals who create real, lasting impact through innovation, advocacy, and action. Yohan Fernando has done all three. He has been a builder, a supporter, and a champion for this mission at every turn. And the young people who have come through MYTT’s programs are better for it.
We are proud to celebrate him on June 5th.
Get your ticket and be in the room when we honor him.

Saturday mornings hit different when you are building robots. 🤖
These kids walked in, sat down, and got straight to work. No warm-up needed. No convincing required. Just focused young engineers doing what they do every week at MYTT.

This is Saturday Morning Robotics. Real robots. Real competition. Real skills that go way beyond the classroom. And every single seat at that table belongs to a kid who chose to show up and figure it out.
Come see what your kid is capable of. We already know they have it in them.

What you are seeing is not just a mentor standing in front of a room, but a young person who once sat exactly where these students are sitting, asking the same questions, figuring out the same problems, and discovering what she was capable of.
That is the full circle moment we work toward at Mentoring Youth Through Technology. When a student decides to come back and pour into the next generation, that tells us everything; it tells us the program worked. It tells us the impact lasted. And it tells us that the seeds planted in those Saturday morning sessions took root in ways that go far beyond the robotics field.
She learned, and now she leads.
This is what mentorship looks like from the inside. Not just someone who knows the subject but someone who lived the journey and chose to stay.

We are so excited to honor Bonita M. Estelle with the Youth Empowerment Award at the Fueling the Future Gala!

Bonita is the kind of leader who does not just show up for her community. She shows up with nearly 40 years of experience, a track record that speaks for itself, and a heart that has never left the South Side of Chicago, where she was raised.

As External Affairs Manager for ComEd’s South Region, she has found meaningful ways to channel real resources toward MYTT’s mission and the young people we serve. Her connection to this organization runs deep. As a former Vice President of Mentoring Youth Through Technology, Bonita helped shape the very mission we celebrate today. She has been a board leader, a champion, and a longtime supporter who has given her time, her network, and her dedication to making sure our students have what they need to succeed.

A Chicago Defender Woman of Excellence. A United Way Community Leadership Award recipient. A multi-year Black Women of Excellence honoree. The accolades are well earned, but anyone who knows Bonita knows she has never done this work for the recognition. She does it because she believes in community and she believes in young people.

Let’s fuel the future together!

05/16/2026

The earlier we plant the seed, the deeper the roots grow. Kids who learn to code are 4 times more likely to succeed; that is no coincidence. Early STEM education doesn't just teach children how to think through problems; it builds the confidence, creativity, and resilience they will carry into every room they walk into for the rest of their lives. At MYTT, we aim to do more than just kids' STEM. We want to shape the people they are becoming. Is your child ready to start building their future? Explore our programs and get your young innovator enrolled today.

We want to give a huge thank you to Bright Star Community Outreach for becoming a sponsor of the Fueling the Future Gala!
Bright Star has been in our corner for years, and this sponsorship is just the latest example of the kind of partner they have always been. As an organization built around wrapping families with the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive, they understand firsthand what it means to invest in young people. That shared vision is exactly why this partnership means so much to us.
Their support helps make sure that MYTT can keep putting technology, mentorship, and real opportunity in front of students who deserve access to all three. When longtime partners like Bright Star step up like this, they send a message to our community that the next generation is worth fighting for.
We are grateful, we are energized, and we cannot wait to celebrate together on June 5th.

We don't just care about how kids grow in STEM. We care about how they grow within themselves. Building up the kids in communities who don't always have the same access to hands-on STEM-based learning is what we are all about. Cultivating a more inspired and confident generation, one robot, code, or workshop at a time.
