As of January 1, Adams Markleville Fire Territory will officially merge with South Madison Fire Territory. While this marks the end of one chapter, it begins an important step forward in strengthening fire and EMS protection for our community.
This moment is bittersweet. Adams Markleville Fire Territory has been built by dedicated firefighters, officers, and community members who gave countless hours of service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting our neighbors. The legacy of this department will never be forgotten.
While the name may change, the mission does not. This merger allows us to move forward stronger, more unified, and better positioned to provide reliable, high-quality fire and EMS protection to our community well into the future. The people, values, and pride that defined Adams Markleville will carry on within South Madison Fire Territory.
This merger allows us to better serve our residents by combining resources, personnel, and equipment—resulting in improved response capabilities, increased staffing reliability, enhanced training opportunities, and long-term financial stability. Most importantly, it helps ensure that our community continues to receive high-quality emergency services both now and for future generations.
Residents can expect the same dedication to service, with the added benefit of a larger, unified department focused on efficiency, safety, and preparedness. This decision was made with the community’s best interests in mind, prioritizing reliable emergency response and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.
We are proud of the service history of Adams Markleville Fire Territory and excited about what lies ahead as part of South Madison Fire Territory.
