Lets Talk About the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP)

**40,000 registered voters are required for a party to be eligible to have a presidential nominee in the PPP.

**The Independent party became a recognized party in 2017 which qualifies the party to have a presidential nominee on the ballot.

**However, no one qualified for this office, leaving only Democrat and Republican nominees.

**Even though the Independent party was eligible to have a nominee, they do not qualify to have a state or parish committee election.

**In a number of parishes,( including Avoyelles) the only thing on the ballot will be party races. This means that only Democrat and Republican affiliated voters will be eligible to vote in the election.

Lets Talk About the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP)

**The purpose of the PPP is to express your preference for a Presidential Nominee.

**It is a closed election, meaning you must vote within your party. The party has the option to open voting to non-affiliated voters, but both Democrats and Republicans have decided to keep it closed.

**Registered Democrats can only vote for Democratic candidates.

**Registered Republicans can only vote for Republican candidates.

Stayed tuned for more information regarding the PPP.
