NOW HIRING: FOOD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Avoyelles Parish Schools is accepting applications for a Food Service Technician to join our team!

We’re looking for someone who understands the importance of a quality school food service program and is ready to help create a safe, welcoming environment for our students. Experience in food service is desirable.

Application Deadline: Friday, September 18, 2026, by 3:00 p.m.

Families, please take time to review your child’s progress, celebrate accomplishments and discuss any areas where additional support may be needed.

Remember, you can use the JCampus Student Progress Center app to monitor your child’s grades and attendance throughout the school year. Staying informed and connected helps keep students on the path to success!

School Bus Safety Reminder

Keeping our students safe on the way to and from school takes all of us. Whether you’re driving during the morning commute or afternoon dismissal, please stay alert when approaching a school bus.

🔴 STOP when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
🚗 Never pass a stopped school bus. It’s illegal and can put a child’s life at risk.
⏰ Slow down and stay alert during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off times.

Children may cross the road unexpectedly, so always watch carefully around school buses and bus stops.

Every child deserves a safe ride to and from school.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a time to remind our students, families, and community that mental health matters, conversations matter, and help is available.

Parents and caregivers play an important role in recognizing changes in behavior, starting conversations, listening without judgment, and connecting young people with support when they need it. This month’s Parent Guidance newsletter provides information about warning signs, ways to talk with children and teens, and resources for families.

Our attendance goal is 94.1%, and each of our 10 schools is currently meeting or exceeding that mark. Strong attendance helps students stay connected, keep pace with learning, and make the most of every school day.

Your feedback can help identify what is working well, where opportunities exist, and how schools across Louisiana can better partner with families to support student success.

LaSAS alumnus William Manuel is investing in the next generation through a scholarship established to support graduates of his alma mater. This year's recipient is 2026 LaSAS graduate Miley Marchand.

Through the HLA Lawn & Tree Service Community Scholarship, Manuel is investing in LaSAS graduates as they take their next steps beyond high school. This year’s scholarship was awarded to 2026 LaSAS graduate Miley Marchand, who is continuing her education at Louisiana Tech University.
