PRESS RELEASE

Saturday night crash leads to serious injuries, felony DWI charges.

On August 29th, 2026 at approximately 10:33 PM, the Marlborough Police Department, Marlborough NH Fire Department, and Cheshire County EMS were dispatched to the area of 240 Stone Pond Road for a motor vehicle into a tree.

Upon arrival, the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 54-year-old Marlborough man, was found to be suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Cheshire Medical Center for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

The operator in this case was charged with Aggravated DWI (Felony B) and was released on personal recognizance bail until his court date in September.

Keene Towing & Recovery assisted on the scene.

This incident is a sobering reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving. If you find yourself in a situation where you need transportation and are not safe to drive, please call our dispatch center at 603-355-2000 and an officer will assist you in finding a ride. If necessary, we would much rather provide you with a ride in one of our cruisers instead of an ambulance.

On August 29th, 2026 at approximately 8:16 PM, a Marlborough Police Officer working an overtime grant patrol funded by the NH Office of Highway Safety observed a group of motorcycles operating on NH Route 101 westbound near Roxbury Road. Two of the motorcycles were operating well above the speed limit and a traffic stop was initiated.

Three of the five motorcyclists fled the traffic stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. One of the motorcyclists, operating a red 2024 Honda 450 dirtbike, reversed direction at NH Route 124 and fled toward Dublin eastbound on NH Route 101.

The pursuit continued through Dublin at high speeds before coming to an end near Old County Road when the defendant’s motorcycle ran out of fuel.

The operator, 18 year old Carson Traffie of Sharon, NH, was arrested without further incident. He was transported to the Cheshire County House of Corrections and is charged with Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon (Felony), Disobeying an Officer (Misdemeanor A), Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor A), and Reckless Operation (Violation). The motorcycle was removed by Keene Towing and Mr. Traffie was later released after posting cash bail.

The Marlborough Police Department is seeking information regarding the identity of Mr. Traffie’s riding companions. Anyone with information to share is asked to contact the Marlborough Police Department.

NOTICE

On 8/28/2026 the Marlborough Police Department took a report of thefts from storage units on Main Street. This is not just a local problem, as these thefts seem to be increasing throughout southern New Hampshire and beyond.

As in years past, we noted only those units secured with standard padlocks were targeted as the thieves were able to quickly gain access to the units with bolt cutters.

If you or someone you know rents a storage unit in the area please consider using the tamper resistant round style padlocks pictured below. These locks are readily available and often make a huge difference to protect your belongings. A small price to pay for peace of mind.

Thieves are looking for easy targets. Don’t be an easy target.
