Since 2008, the Marlborough Police Department has partnered with Advocates through the Jail Diversion Program to help connect individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and behavioral health challenges with the services and support they need.

Today, Co-Response Clinician Erin Sweeney works alongside our officers to provide crisis intervention, referrals, follow-up support, and access to resources for members of our community.

As mental health-related calls for service continue to increase across Massachusetts, partnerships like this help ensure that individuals receive the appropriate care while supporting public safety.

We encourage our community to watch this video from the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association highlighting the importance of co-response and jail diversion programs across the Commonwealth.

Multi-Agency Response Leads to Successful Apprehension of Suspects

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 1:28 PM, Marlborough Police responded to Ghiloni Park for a reported attempted vehicle theft.

The victim reported that while resting inside his parked vehicle, a masked individual opened the driver's door. Upon realizing the vehicle was occupied, the suspect immediately fled and entered a waiting vehicle before leaving the area.

A short time later, officers attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description provided. The operator fled from police, nearly striking an officer who was working a traffic detail and attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently crashed on Parmenter Road, overturned, and all three occupants fled into a nearby wooded area.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day from Wayland.

A large-scale search involving patrol officers, detectives, K-9 teams, and aviation assets was immediately launched. Officers established a perimeter and conducted an extensive search of the area, ultimately locating and apprehending all three suspects.

One adult suspect was charged with multiple offenses, including Attempted Carjacking, receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle for a Felony, Conspiracy, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and numerous motor vehicle violations. Two juvenile suspects were also taken into custody.

The Marlborough Police Department would like to thank K-9 Enzo and Officer Martins, the Framingham Police Department K-9 Unit, the Hudson Police Department K-9 Unit, the Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, the Southborough Police Department and the Wayland Police Department for their assistance during this incident.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Hudson Police Department and Sudbury Police Department for assisting with calls for service and providing backup coverage throughout Marlborough while our officers were committed to the extensive search operation.

The successful apprehension of all three suspects was the result of outstanding teamwork, coordination, and support from our regional law enforcement partners.

Great job by all involved!!

As we spend time with family and friends, let’s take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who never came home and the families they left behind.

From all of us at the Marlborough Police Department, we thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice and honor their memory today and always.

The Marlborough Police Department would like to remind the public that E-Bikes, motorized scooters, and similar devices must be operated safely and responsibly. Due to an increase in complaints from residents, prior crashes involving serious injuries, and concerns over unsafe riding throughout the city, officers will be increasing enforcement and education efforts.

Officers will be addressing violations including reckless operation, unsafe riding in roadways, failure to obey traffic laws, and riders under the age of 17 operating without a helmet as required by Massachusetts law.

We encourage parents to speak with their children about riding responsibly, following traffic laws, and wearing proper safety equipment. Our goal is to educate riders and prevent serious injuries before they occur.
