August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day. On this day there are Vigils in most every NJ county to remember those we've lost. A night we can come together, connect with one another, remember and honor all those we love who have left us too soon. I have been to many vigils and the common item is the sadness AND the beauty of the night. If you've lost a loved one to an overdose or addiction related, try to bring yourself to a vigil. Healing starts with one another. Here's a few Vigils in the South Jersey Area. FYI: we will have a table at the Burlington Co. & Gloucester Co. Vigils. This year Colleen Howard from Parent To Parent has the honor of speaking at the Gloucester County Vigil.

Today the Evesham Municipal Alliance, Burlington County Coalition For Healthy Communities and Prevention Plus coordinated the placement of 650 Purple Flags in front of the RapRoom Parent To Parent on 1010 Tuckerton Road in remembrance of the more than 650 lives lost to overdoses in Burlington County from 2020-2025.
Each Flag represents a live no longer here. A family member missing at the table, at the reunions, at the holiday meals. A face we only see in pictures and in our memories. Seeing those flags was very sombering to all of us. The flags will remain for the month of August.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped place the flags, including members of the Municipal Alliance, RapRoom Parent To Parent, Evesham Township Police (NJ), Evesham Councilwoman Dr. Krystal Hunter, Councilman Joe Fisicaro, Jr., represenatives from Burlington County, The Tribe, Kings Crusade and all the representatives and volunteers from organizations in our region. We appreciate you.
If you have the opportunity to drive past the display of purple flags, we invite you to pause for a moment of reflection. May they serve as a tribute to those whose lives were lost, a reminder of the families forever impacted, and a call for everyone to continue working together to help our residents who are struggling with addiction.

WE COULD USE YOUR HELP! Our office has partnered with the AGAPE PROJECT again to help provide a holiday breakfast to our friends on the streets of Camden this Saturday April 4th, (approx 150 people). We are in need of many hands of service! Can you cook with us on Friday the 3rd in Franklinville? Or, can you donate funds for others to cook? Or, can you cook at your house and we'll pick up? Maybe you could join us on Saturday the 4th 10 am till noon, to serve our friends w/ a smile & a warm holiday breakfast? Here's what we're looking at: hard boiled eggs, sausage, pork or turkey, bananas & oranges, candy or Easter treats, take out containers.. Who can do 50 pieces of one of these? Our Lost Angels group (grief) meets at the office with a Zoom option for those who can't make it in person on (tomorrow) Tuesday 5:30 for a light meal, then group at 6pm. If you haven't joined us yet, pop in and say hello. Our Lost Angels group is a supportive group who uplift one another through our shared life experiences with respect and grace.
