This past weekend Evesham Township Deputy Mayor Heather Cooper and Evesham Councilwoman Dr. Krystal Hunter represented Evesham Township at Burlington County's annual Memorial Day Service at Veterans Memorial Park in Burlington Township.

The county’s annual ceremony takes place every year on May 30, which marks the date of the very first national Memorial Day in 1868. Then known as Decoration Day, it was established by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan to honor Union soldiers who lost their lives in the American Civil War.

Deputy Mayor Cooper and Councilwoman Hunter joined officials in placing a wreath at the park’s memorial on behalf of our community.

May we always remember and honor the profound sacrifices made by those who gave their lives to protect our nation and preserve our freedoms.

Last night marked the annual Ride of Silence in Evesham Township, organized by Team Evesham Cycling Club with support from other area groups such as Cynergy Cycling, TnT Cycle Club and Outdoor Club of South Jersey.

This annual, nationwide event honors cyclists who have been injured or killed while riding.

By holding this ride, cyclists hope to raise awareness among motorists to follow all the laws related to sharing the road.

Before the start of the ride, Mayor Jackie Veasy, Evesham Township Deputy Mayor Heather Cooper and Councilman Joe Fisicaro, Jr. offered an official proclamation in support of the cyclists and their message to all those who use roadways in our community.

Members of the Evesham Township Police (NJ) also helped es**rt cyclists during the ride and helped support this cause.

Please remember to share the road with all. Thank you.
