Marmora Volunteer Fire Co.

Marmora Volunteer Fire Co. Volunteer Fire Department History
The Marmora Volunteer Fire Company was organized and conceived in 1947.

After the organization, the meetings were then held in the basement of a members home until the completion of the first firehouse. The first building was built with the combined efforts of many volunteers. Many donated items and discounts, along with the sweat and toil of the Marmora Firemen, made the firehouse a reality. Intially the building housed only one vehicle - the original truck - a World

War II Navy Crash Truck. Soon the company would acquire a 1300 gallon tanker and other apparatus. These were the for-runners of the apparatus we have today. The method for putting out fires at first was by Indian Cans only and gradually over the years progressed with the purchase of the finest fire fighting apparatus in the County. If the equipment was used it was rebuilt and worked on with tender loving care; if it was built to specifications it was designed with the same tender loving care and purpose. Firefighting equipment and practices have improved greatly. This year is the fifth decade that we have served our community with up to date apparatus that affords us not only a good firefighting capability, but also gives us the largest water transport capacity of any fire company in Cape May County.

We cannot say enough about our Public Safety Telecommunicators!. They are the first in line of the public safety chain, sending us out on our next emergency call and keeping watch over us while we are out there. Thank you Ocean City Police Department dispatchers.

To the voice on the other end of the radio… Thank you!!!

Everyday, our dispatchers in Ocean City Communications preform a job that is often unseen and often thankless and overlooked. They are the first link in the chain of survival, and the life line for both our community members in crisis and our first responders in the field.

They manage chaos with grace, prioritize safety under immense pressure, and provide a reassuring voice when it is needed most. We see your dedication, we hear your professionalism, and we deeply appreciate the incredible work you do, 24/7/365.

Join us in saying a massive THANK YOU to our dispatchers 🎧💛

Congratulations Airman Lamanna. Now get back to work!

Today, members from the Seaville, Marmora, and Tuckahoe Fire Departments, along with Upper Township EMS and Rescue Squad, proudly attended the Air Force graduation of Firefighter Anthony Lamanna at JBSA Lackland 🇺🇸

Now Airman Lamanna, completed seven and a half weeks of basic training and will head to technical school this fall as he begins his journey with the New Jersey Air National Guard.

The crew of Engine 15-31 handled the landing zone

Earlier this afternoon, Upper Township’s Ambulance 21-1 responded to the Marmora section of the township alongside AtlantiCare Medic 8 for a pediatric traumatic injury. Due to the nature of the incident, responders requested a medical helicopter for rapid transport to a specialty hospital. 🚑🚁

The Marmora Volunteer Fire Company quickly established a Landing Zone for JeffSTAT 4, ensuring safe and efficient transfer of care.

Strong coordination between all EMS units and fire personnel makes a critical difference when minutes matter most. Thank you to all of our responding agency partners for your teamwork and professionalism.
