Ok Folks- Last Call!!

CSO Ware & his Trusty Sidekick, Sandy, will be conducting our 6th and final organized Golf Cart registration on 4-30-26. They will be in the City Hall Gym, by the north doors, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Coincidentally, that is the last day the 2025/2026 registration stickers will be valid.

Now, if you have been out of town, sick, binge-watching Stranger Things or any of the Tyler Sheridan shows, weren't aware of the previous 5 dates, or even if the dog ate your homework, you will still be able to have your golf cart registered. You will have to make an appointment with CSO Ware (217-972-1683) or call the non-emergency police number (217-794-5526), and if an officer is available, we will be glad to help you.

That being said, after 4/30/26, if you are stopped without the current registration- much like in baseball....."There's no Crying in Golf Carting!!"

So come on up and see Chris and Sandy, and don't be afraid to bring ole girl a dog treat(s) and belly Rubs!

Have a Safe & Great Day Everyone!

For Immediate Release:
On 4/9/2026, I was contacted by the Macon County Administrator, Tamara Wilcox. Tamara invited me to attend the monthly Macon County Board Meeting as a representative of the Maroa Police Department. I was only informed that "I was going to be very happy with the content of the meeting."

So, of course, I attended, and I am very excited and proud to inform the Maroa Community that the Howard G. Buffett Foundation has generously donated a brand new 2026 Chevrolet Police Tahoe to the Maroa Police Department! The Howard G. Buffett Foundation has also provided the Police Department with $25,000.00 to outfit the vehicle with emergency equipment. (Donations were also made to other local police departments to keep everyone in the loop.)
This amazingly generous donation was completely unexpected by all of the local police departments. Their thoughtful gift will benefit the department and the city as a whole for years to come.

We would like to publicly and wholeheartedly give a HUGE Thank You to the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and the members of the Macon County Board who assisted in this donation.
We will pick up the vehicle from Miles Chevrolet sometime next week and hope to have it out on patrol within the next 2-3 months. (It takes a while to order the equipment, have it shipped, and schedule the upfit of it all).

Thank you very much for your attention!

Respectfully,
Chief Fitzgerald

Good morning, Golf Cart Enthusiasts of Maroa!

We’ve got one heck of a deal going on down at city hall today! If you’re willing to hop on your golf cart and take a stroll up to City Hall. Community Service Officer Ware and his trustee sidekick Sandy will trade you: a quick two minute inspection for a shiny brand new sticker! It’s even in Maroa-Forsyth colors! (for all those narcs out there, keep that part to yourself. We don’t want any copyright infringement problems with dem education folks!!!)

Now that’s a heck of a deal, even better than Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio!! (Yes, it still hurts)

So come on down, rain or shine, they are there from 9-5. They are located at the north doors of the city hall gymnasium.

Thanks!
Chief Fitzgerald

Good Afternoon Maroa & Surrounding Communities,

The Maroa Police Department is looking for assistance in identifying this person in connection with a misunderstanding of how paying for items actually works.

If you are her! Please contact the Maroa Police Department. If anyone knows who she is, also please contact us at 217-794-5125.

Now, to head off the inevitable comments ahead of time: Yes the picture was taken from the moon, using a 1980’s polaroid camera by a drunk guy who forgot his glasses at the bar.
Yes, to our bored retired guy, we are thinking of you in this with this preemptive paragraph.

Thank you in advance for anyone’s assistance.

Respectfully,
Chief Fitzgerald
