Today, September 6, 2026, marks a very special milestone in our community’s history.

🎂 70 years ago today, Marquette Heights was officially incorporated in the State of Illinois!

Since September 6, 1956, generations of residents, families, City employees, volunteers, businesses, and community leaders have helped shape Marquette Heights into the community we are proud to call home.

Seventy years means a lot of history. ❤️

🏡 Neighborhoods have grown.
🌳 Generations of children have played in our parks.
🚒 Volunteers have answered the call.
🚓 Employees have served our residents.
🤝 Neighbors have helped neighbors.
💙 And countless memories have been made along the way.

Buildings, streets, businesses, and faces may change over the years, but the heart of Marquette Heights has always been its people and its sense of community.

Today, we honor those who helped build Marquette Heights, celebrate those who call it home today, and look forward to the generations who will continue its story.

🇺🇸 LABOR DAY CLOSURE NOTICE 🇺🇸

In observance of Labor Day, the City of Marquette Heights Municipal Building and Public Works Departments will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026.

Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Labor Day is a time to recognize the hard work and dedication of workers throughout our community and across the country. We are especially thankful for our City employees and Public Works crews who work throughout the year to serve and care for Marquette Heights. 💙

Please note that emergency and essential services will continue as necessary during the holiday.

🥵🌞 Extreme Heat Safety & Cooling Center Information 🌞🥵

With dangerously hot temperatures expected this week, the City of Marquette Heights encourages everyone to take extra precautions to protect themselves, their families, and their pets from the heat.

❄️ Need a place to cool off?
Liberty Hall will be open as a Cooling Center for anyone who needs relief from the heat.

100 Lincoln Rd., Marquette Heights

💙 Heat Safety Tips:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay indoors in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a hat when outdoors.
🌳 Limit outdoor activities, especially between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when temperatures are at their highest.
☀️ Apply sunscreen and take frequent breaks in the shade if you must work or exercise outside.
🚗 Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, friends, and family members, as they are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
🐾 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade, and avoid walking them on hot pavement, which can burn their paws.
⚠️ Know the signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, confusion, nausea, headache, rapid pulse, or excessive sweating. If someone shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

Your safety is our priority. If you or someone you know needs a cool place to spend the day, please stop by Liberty Hall.

One of our favorite community weekends is almost here! The Marquette Heights City-Wide Garage Sales are coming up, and we’re excited to see residents out shopping, visiting with neighbors, and hunting for those hidden treasures! 🛍️💰

And all that bargain hunting is sure to work up an appetite! 😋🔥

🚒 The Marquette Heights Fire Department will also be holding its Annual Cookout from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, or until SOLD OUT!

So grab your coffee, bring some cash, find a bargain (or ten! 😂), and then stop by to support our local Fire Department and grab something delicious!

🇺🇸💧 Congressman LaHood Visits Marquette Heights 💧🇺🇸

The City of Marquette Heights was honored to welcome Congressman Darin LaHood and members of his team to our community to discuss something incredibly important to our future — our water infrastructure.

Congressman LaHood and his team met with Mayor Dale Little, Alderman Rick Crum, Water Superintendent Tim Heady, and Office Manager Bri Johnson to hear firsthand about the challenges facing our aging water system, the improvements that are needed, and the significant financial investment these projects will require.

💧 The Congressman also toured our water treatment plant, giving him and his team an opportunity to see firsthand the infrastructure our employees work with every day and why improvements to our system are so important.

For a small municipality like Marquette Heights, having the opportunity to sit down with our federal representatives, explain our needs, and show them exactly what we are working to improve is incredibly valuable.

Our water infrastructure needs are substantial, but so is our commitment to finding solutions. We will continue advocating for Marquette Heights and pursuing funding opportunities that can help make these necessary improvements possible without placing the entire financial burden on our residents.

We sincerely thank Congressman LaHood and his team for taking the time to visit Marquette Heights, listen to our concerns, tour our facility, and learn more about the needs of our community.

Great news! The Boil Order has officially been LIFTED for:

💧 1400 and 1500 Block of Lincoln

Residents in these areas may now resume normal use of their water. No boiling is necessary.
We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while the water main repairs were completed and the necessary testing was performed.
A special THANK YOU to our Marquette Heights Water Department for their hard work and dedication in getting the repairs completed and our water system back to normal! 👏💙

🚨💧 BOIL ORDER NOTICE 💧🚨

Due to the water main break, a Boil Order is now in effect until further notice for the areas that experienced a water service interruption:

1400 block and 1500 block of Lincoln

Residents in the affected area should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, and other consumption purposes until the order is lifted.

📢 We will notify residents as soon as testing is complete and the Boil Order can safely be lifted.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while our Water and Streets Department works to ensure the safety of our water system. 💙
