Congratulations to the graduates of our first staff academy! Graduates were recognized at this Monday's City Commission meeting for their hard work and drive to participate in this internal professional development opportunity. Staff members from across the city spanning different departments, positions, and time at the city, all participated in 9 sessions over the course of the year each focused on a different department. If you're interested in a similar program, the citizens academy is always accepting applications and runs annually during the fall - apply at the link in bio.

Would you like to make a difference in the lives of our senior citizens? The City of Marquette has one part-time position available for a Homemaker Aide with the Marquette Senior Center. Homemaker Aides play a vital role in helping seniors maintain their independence and remain in their own homes. Candidates accepting this position will create a set schedule determining the days and hours they want to work (Monday through Friday). No nights, weekends, or holidays.
The hours can range from 10-16 hours per week, based on the candidate’s preference. The hiring rate is $16.48 - $17.92/hr. paid biweekly, with future step increases. Position promotions with higher rate of pay also available. An additional bonus payment dependent on hours worked to be paid out monthly. Paid time off after a 90-day probationary period. Holiday pay is available after the candidate works 1,000 hours in a calendar year (January-December).
The duties include housekeeping services and occasional errands for multiple seniors. Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the job and applicants must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and a reliable vehicle. Mileage is reimbursed. Applications will be accepted until the positions have been filled.

CITY OF MARQUETTE OFFICES EXPERIENCING TELECOMMUNICATION DISRUPTIONS

The City of Marquette is aware that some residents may be experiencing intermittent issues with placing phone calls to City offices.

Regional network disruptions affecting major telecommunications providers, including AT&T and Verizon, are currently impacting portions of the area, as a result of recent storms.

These outages are related to issues with the telecommunications networks and are outside the control of the City of Marquette. Restoration timelines have not been provided at this time.

If you need to contact the City, you can find department emails on the City’s website at www.marquettemi.gov.
