Reference: Felony Arrest – Gordon David Quinnell.

The Marquette Police Department arrested 70-year-old Marquette resident, Gordon David Quinnell for misdemeanor and felony charges stemming from an indecent exposure incident in Marquette.

On 8/12/26, while at the beach on Lakeshore Bvld near Pine Street, witnesses noticed Quinnell allegedly fondling himself nearby and contacted the Marquette Police Department. Quinnell left prior to the police response but was positively identified by the assistance of tips provided on social media. Police contacted Quinnell and further investigation resulted in his arrest for Aggravated Indecent Exposure.

The case was referred to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review of an additional charge resulting from Quinnell’s prior conviction of a similar offense.

Quinnell is charged with one High-Court Misdemeanor - Aggravated Indecent Exposure, and one Felony count of Indecent Exposure by a Sexually Delinquent Person. The Felony Charge is punishable by up to life in prison.

Quinnell was arraigned in the 96th District Court on August 13th. He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $350 total for all counts.

Reference: 08/08/2026 Unwitnessed Death

On 08/08/2026 at approximately 5:00pm the Marquette Police Department (MPD) responded to the Iron Ore Heritage Trail near Wilson Street for the report of an unresponsive male that was located by a person walking on the path.

Upon arrival, officers were directed down an embankment just south of the path and found the unresponsive male. Resuscitation efforts were attempted by first responders, but the male was eventually pronounced deceased. The investigation into this incident is ongoing by MPD.

Assisting with this incident was the Marquette City Fire Department and UPHS-Marquette EMS.

Reference: Child Abuse Investigation

On 07/15/2026 at approximately 12:00pm the Marquette Police Department responded to UPHS-Marquette for a wellbeing check on a four-month-old female infant who was brought in for decreased responsiveness by her parents. Upon arrival, officers were advised the infant was barely responsive and was currently receiving medical treatment. The infant was flown to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay, WI for further treatment that afternoon.

A joint investigation by the Marquette Police Department and Michigan Child Protective Services was conducted. A report regarding this incident was forwarded to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges. Charges were authorized and on 07/31/2026 felony warrants were issued by the 96th District Court for 22-year-old Katrina Ayotte and 28-year-old Christopher Dunn, both Marquette residents. Both are charged with one count of Child Abuse – 1st Degree.

On 08/03/2026 Ayotte and Dunn were arrested and lodged at the Marquette County Jail.

Reference: Felony Arrest – Brian Andrew Legault.

The Marquette Police Department arrested 59-year-old Brian Andrew Legault for felony charges stemming from two indecent exposure incidences in Marquette.

The investigation showed that on June 6th, 2026, bystanders witnessed Legault exposing his ge****ls and fondling himself while at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. Police procured additional evidence in the investigation and the case was referred to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges.

Then, on July 5th, 2026, two women witnessed Legault expose his ge****ls to them as they walked on the boardwalk along Lake Superior near Downtown Marquette. Legault was arrested later that day for criminal trespassing at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, with additional charges referred to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

On July 7th Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized the following charges: Aggravated Indecent Exposure and Indecent Exposure by a Sexually Delinquent Person. On July 8th 2026, The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized additional charges including Indecent Exposure and Indecent Exposure by a Sexually Delinquent Person.

The Marquette Police arrested Legault on all charges and he was lodged at the Marquette County Jail. Legault was arraigned in the 96th District Court on July 8th.

Legault is charged with two Misdemeanors - Criminal Trespass and Indecent Exposure, one High-Court Misdemeanor - Aggravated Indecent Exposure, and two Felony counts of Indecent Exposure by a Sexually Delinquent Person. The Felony Charges are punishable by up to life in prison. He is charged as a Habitual Offender; Fourth Offense. Legault’s bond was set at $155,000 total for all charges.
