The Sexual Assault Response Team is a 24/7 on-call support team, advocacy and community education. The sexual assault response program provides individual and group counseling, advocacy, educational information and referrals for child and adult victims/survivors of sexual assault, which includes rape, childhood sexual abuse, adult survivors of incest and sexual harassment/stalking. These services are also provided to families/friends/loved ones and survivors. Counseling services are provided to victims/survivors of abuse regarding psychological or emotional problems resulting from victimization. Psychological issues resolved through this special counseling program include stress, substance abuse, PTSD, or other family relationship situations. The therapist develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans based on research based, best practice social work modalities. The Transitional Supportive Housing program provides safe, affordable transitional housing and support services for low-income families. Transitional housing is available for up to 24 months and services are individually tailored for each family. The Alger County advocate is located in courthouse building. The advocate is on call to the Alger County law enforcement agencies and Prosecutorβs office 24/7. Services include housing assistance, counseling, advocacy, court support, safety planning and assistance with victim impact statements. The Gwinn advocate is located at K.I. Sawyer and is available Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm. Services are the same as the Munising advocate.
