The Women’s Center provides programs and services in Marquette and Alger Counties that Protect, Educate, Advocate, Counsel, and Empower survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence.

24/7 on-call support line - (906) 226-6611

The Sexual Assault Response Team is a 24/7 on-call support team, advocacy and community education. The sexual assault response program provides individual and group counseling, advocacy, educational information and referrals for child and adult victims/survivors of sexual assault, which includes rape, childhood sexual abuse, adult survivors of incest and sexual harassment/stalking. These services are also provided to families/friends/loved ones and survivors. Counseling services are provided to victims/survivors of abuse regarding psychological or emotional problems resulting from victimization. Psychological issues resolved through this special counseling program include stress, substance abuse, PTSD, or other family relationship situations. The therapist develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans based on research based, best practice social work modalities. The Transitional Supportive Housing program provides safe, affordable transitional housing and support services for low-income families. Transitional housing is available for up to 24 months and services are individually tailored for each family. The Alger County advocate is located in courthouse building. The advocate is on call to the Alger County law enforcement agencies and Prosecutor’s office 24/7. Services include housing assistance, counseling, advocacy, court support, safety planning and assistance with victim impact statements. The Gwinn advocate is located at K.I. Sawyer and is available Monday thru Friday 9am to 5pm. Services are the same as the Munising advocate.

This week: Friday, June 12th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lakeview Arena in Marquette!

75 local organizations with free information & programs on food, housing, transportation, health screenings, senior services, veteran benefits, childcare, and more.

The Salvation Army Marquette County, MI is providing a free community meal for all attendees- no registration or reservations necessary.
• The Secretary of State Mobile Office will be on-site for MI driver’s license and I.D renewals, vehicle title transfers, and more. Be sure to bring your required documentation to take advantage of this service!
• A Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry will also be at the Berry Event Center parking lot from 12-2, so attendees can grab their food boxes before heading over to the fair
• There will be free, on-site health services available. Free blood pressure checks, skin cancer screenings, vision tests + dental screenings for children, and more
• There will be free haircuts for attendees on a first come, first serve basis. Those who do not have time to get a free haircut may receive a voucher for a free haircut through the Northern Michigan University School of Cosmetology (until supplies lasts)

Northwoods Music Collaborative
Ore Dock Brewing Co.

NMC teaching artists are working with the The Women's Center to create lullabies! Please join us on Thursday, July 2 at 6:00 pm, at the Ore Dock Community Room for a fund raiser concert for the Women's Center. The Ore Dock is located at 14 W. Spring Street, Marquette, Michigan. All are welcome!

The Lullaby Project, in collaboration with Carnegie Hall, pairs parents and caregivers with professional musicians and writers to compose and sing lullabies for their children. Each song amplifies love, connection and healing. This is a powerful experience and the culminating performances that result from the work are amazing. The Teal Lake Singers be joining us, along with Evan Premo, Rebecca Fishman and Bette and Dean Premo.
