This Saturday!!!

We build hugel mounds (or hügelkultur) to create self-watering, long-term fertile garden beds by mimicking natural forest floor decay. It is a centuries-old European peasant and forestry practice used to clear wood debris and improve poor soils or hillside drainage! Since our soils in KI Sawyer are basically sand - this is one way to use what we have in the area to improve it!

Over the next 10 days there are three ways to get involved with the community effort towards establishing a long term sustainable food source in KI Sawyer:

1. Attend the workshop for any amount of time Saturday 10/17 10-6PM
2. Drop off materials from your yard or foraged from local county land, at the school orchard site (see below for a material list- areas for drop off are marked near the ballfield!).
3. Contact me to go on a run to collect resources from people who have already offered up various materials (available Tuesday 10/13 through Friday 10/16).

Reminder that we are a non-profit if you need volunteer hours logged- AND we have $10 hr stipends available during the workshop
