RL Gates, age 84, of Warren, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Warren. He was born April 9, 1941, in Bradley County, Arkansas, to the late Quinnie Gates and Zola Bea Grider Gates. He was preceded in death by his brothers Duce Gates and Doyle Gates of Marsden.

Remembering the Sardis church building at Marsden.

The Sardis Methodist Church building at Marsden was just east of Marsden Baptist Church by Marsden Cemetery (notice the gravestones visible behind it), but was torn down around 1970 or so, I think.

I repaired Grandpa Garrett’s tombstone again in 2023. I remembered to ask God to bind any bad influences on me this time...
