FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRIDGE CLOSURE NOTICE

September 10–September 18, 2026

MARSEILLES, ILLINOIS — The City of Marseilles is notifying residents, motorists, emergency services, Marseilles Elementary School, and surrounding agencies that the Lincoln Street Bridge
will be temporarily closed to all traffic from Thursday, September 10, 2026, through Friday, September 18, 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.

The closure is necessary to allow the contractor to complete work on the bridge, including the removal of existing materials and the installation of a latex overlay.

The contractor anticipates beginning removal work late next week, with the latex overlay work scheduled to follow the subsequent week. The bridge must remain closed throughout this process to ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public.

Closure Information:

Closure Dates: September 10–September 18, 2026
Location: Lincoln Street Bridge.

Reason for Closure: Bridge maintenance and latex overlay installation.

Traffic: No traffic will be permitted across the bridge during the closure.

Residents and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use an alternate route during the closure. Emergency service agencies, school transportation providers, and other organizations that regularly use the bridge are asked to make the necessary arrangements and adjust routes as needed.

The City understands that this closure may cause temporary inconvenience and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this necessary work is completed.

The closure schedule is subject to change due to weather, construction conditions, or unforeseen circumstances. The City will provide updates if the anticipated reopening date changes.
