Hey, parents, we’re getting to the best time of the year
sending the kiddos back to school!!! Woooooohoooooo!!!

We have had a few schools start the school year already and the rest are following this week and next. Just a little reminder to watch for those little ones going to school now. Especially be on the lookout for those big yellow buses and their flashing red lights with STOP signs!

Thank you to all of our educators who take on the responsibility of educating the youth and having the patience to work with everyone. We truly respect and appreciate all of your hard work and dedication.

SCAM ALERT!

There is a new scam circulating in the area involving the most popular piece of area sheriff's offices' websites, the jail roster.

Scammers are watching the published jail roster for new inmates to be added. The scammers will perform internet research on the new inmate to get relatives' names and phone numbers. The scammers will then contact family members representing themselves as an official from the Sheriff's Office, probation, courts, or other criminal justice entity.

It is the goal of the scammer to solicit "bail money" from the family member to bail the person out of jail. The scammer uses the official jail roster as a means to support their scam.

Remember, law enforcement will never ask for bail to be posted in the form of PayPal, phone cards, any type of gift cards, Venmo, or other cash apps.

If you receive a call similar to this please contact your local law enforcement agency for verification.

We have not heard of this scam appearing in Lyon County as of yet, but it has been reported in neighboring counties.

FALCONER PROMOTED TO SERGEANT

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotion of Jacob Falconer to the position of Correctional Officer Sergeant.

Sgt. Falconer began his career with the sheriff’s office as a correctional officer, and will continue to be a value add to our team as a shift supervisor with in the Lyon County Jail.

Congratulations Sgt. Falconer and keep up the good work.

As of 8:00 PM, our lines appear to be working normally, as they should. We will continue to monitor to ensure that they continue to work.

We are currently experiencing phone issues in our communications center. The issue is affecting our administrative lines, 507-537-7666 and 507-537-7000. Our 911 lines are still working. We are working with our telecom for a resolution. We will update when able.

Come out to the fair to stop and say 'Hi!'

We will have a booth set-up with our squad car, boat, ATV, and communications trailer. Grab a sticker or two...temporary tattoos, and chat with your deputies.

The fun begins at 5:00 PM. Stop out and see all the hard work that the kiddos have done with their 4-H animals and projects. Engorge yourself with a burger, cheese curd, pronto pup, and our favorite, MINI-DONUTS!!!!!!!
