This week, I had the opportunity to ride along with Lyon County Deputy Austin Thompson and see firsthand what law enforcement looks like across the northern half of Lyon County.

The evening began with a tour of the Lyon County offices and jail led by Sheriff Eric Wallen. I came away impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.

From Cottonwood to communities across the county, I observed the day-to-day work our deputies do to keep our neighborhoods safe. While it was thankfully a relatively quiet evening, it provided a valuable look at the wide range of calls and responsibilities our law enforcement officers handle every day.

What stood out most was the calm professionalism, sound judgment, and dedication demonstrated by Deputy Thompson, Sheriff Wallen, and the entire Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

We are fortunate to have men and women who serve our communities with integrity and commitment, often with limited resources and little recognition. Thank you for all you do to keep Lyon County safe.

Not only was the government able to sentence people to death in the Old Testament. Jesus and Paul followed the law to the point of their own death in the new testament.

Acts 25
10 Paul answered: “I am now standing before Caesar’s court, where I ought to be tried. I have not done any wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well. 11 If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die. But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Cottonwood Community Improvement Project Open House.

It was great to see community members engaged in conversations about the future of Cottonwood. Strong communities are built when people show up, share ideas, and work together to make their towns even better.
