FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMBER KILLED: Heartbreaking news for the Guymon Fire Department… a house fire killed one of their EMTs early this morning.

49-year-old Steven Coen who lived in Goodwell was pulled from his burning house, but did not survive.

“Steven is a member of the Guymon Fire Department and is an active EMT on the department’s EMS Division,” said Guymon Fire Chief Grant Wadley. “This is a huge loss.” 💔

Steven was heavily involved in the EMS Division for Guymon for the past 10 years and was even scheduled to work EMS detail during this weekend’s Pioneer Days Rodeo as a First Responder. He also worked as an EMT in Ho**er, Oklahoma, covering calls to allow their members time off.

Details of the fire are being investigated by the Oklahoma Fire Marshal Office, Oklahoma Medical, Goodwell Police Department, and Goodwell Fire Department.

🚨 Storm Siren Reminder 🚨

The Marshall Fire Department wants to remind everyone that even when the storm sirens are working properly, they should NOT be your only source of emergency alerts.

Storm sirens are designed to warn people who are outdoors and may not always be heard inside homes—especially during severe weather or while you’re sleeping.

We strongly encourage everyone to have multiple ways to receive emergency notifications:
✅ Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on your cell phone
✅ NOAA Weather Radio with alert tone
✅ Local news and radio stations
✅ Weather apps with push notifications
✅ Follow local emergency services on social media

Having more than one way to receive alerts can make a critical difference when seconds count.

Stay safe, stay prepared. 🇺🇸🚒

🚨 SIREN TEST NOTICE 🚨

The Marshall Fire Department will be testing the storm siren today at 12:00 PM (noon).

This is only a test—there is no emergency. We conduct these tests to ensure the system is working properly and ready when it’s needed.

If you have any questions or notice any issues with the siren, please reach out to us.

Thank you for your continued support and helping us keep our community safe! 🔥🚒
