Wildfire near FM 2625 prompts emergency water conservation efforts; second fire extinguished near Marshall Leigh Road:

A wildfire has been reported in Harrison County along FM 2625. According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the fire is currently estimated at approximately five acres and remains 0% contained. Numerous departments, including ESD 3, ESD 4, Elysian Fields VFD, and the Texas Forest Service, are on the scene. Fire Marshal Jamie McConnell says the blaze is near a deer camp.

The fire has prompted emergency conservation measures for customers of the Blocker Crossroads Water System.

According to a notice issued Sunday afternoon, BCWS is under emergency water conservation efforts as crews battle the fire. Customers may experience low or no water pressure, discolored water, or other service disruptions.

The water system says it will issue a boil advisory once water service is restored, and it will remain in effect until further notice.

Firefighters from ESD 3 and Woodlawn Fire responded to another smaller fire today near Marshall Leigh Road. That fire has been extinguished, but firefighters remain on the scene. McConnell said that the fire had smoldered back to life after initially being extinguished last week.

🎇Stay Safe with Fireworks! 🎇

Don't be hasty, practice fireworks safety!

Safety First: Handle fireworks responsibly!

✅ Follow local laws and regulations.

✅ Only buy fireworks from reputable sources.

✅ Read and follow all instructions carefully.

✅ Have a designated adult supervise the festivities.

Use Fireworks Outdoors:

✅ Find an open, clear area away from buildings, trees, and vehicles.

✅ Ensure you have a stable surface to launch fireworks.

✅ Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby for emergencies.

Never Do These:

❌ Don't point fireworks at people, animals, or buildings.

❌ Never try to relight a "dud" firework. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it in water.

❌ Avoid wearing loose clothing that could catch fire.

Protect Your Eyes and Ears:

👓 Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.

🔇 Keep a safe distance and cover your ears to avoid loud noises.

Be Mindful of Pets:

🐶 Keep pets indoors and secure, as fireworks can frighten them.

🐱 Create a calm environment and provide comforting space for them.

Celebrate Responsibly:

👍 Respect your neighbors and community by adhering to local curfews and noise regulations.

👉 Consider attending a public firework display instead of using consumer fireworks.

Remember, prioritize safety to make your fireworks experience a memorable and enjoyable one for everyone. Have a happy and safe celebration!
