Happy coincidence: It's Pollinator Week, and applications for spring 2026 Lawns to Legumes grants were announced today!

Anyone who lives in Minnesota and has an outdoor space for planting is eligible to apply for up to $400 reimbursement for costs associated with establishing new pollinator habitat.

Lawns to Legumes also offers workshops, coaching and gardening resources to help Minnesotans create new habitat for pollinators. The program is available to homeowners and renters.

HOW TO APPLY: Apply for spring 2026 grants on the Blue Thumb - Planting for Clean Water website: https://buff.ly/qclDy3W If you previously applied for the program and did not receive an award, you must reapply to be considered for spring 2026 funding. Lawns to Legumes is administered by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources in partnership with Blue Thumb.

The Lyon County Conservation Office will be closed Monday, May 26th, in observance of Memorial Day. This is a holiday to remember those who have served and those who you miss dearly everyday. Take some time this weekend to visit loved ones and relax.

While you're relaxing, don't forget to water your garden and newly planted trees. Even though we got quite a bit of rain this week, we were very dry to start with and by Saturday your plants and trees may want some water!

Have a great weekend, Lyon County!
