📣 City of Marshall Celebrates Upgrades to its Emergency Communications Center

The City hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 28, at the Marshall Police Department to mark the completion of significant upgrades to the Emergency Communications Center, strengthening public safety services for Marshall and surrounding communities.

🚨 The upgrades to the Emergency Communications Center, which is commonly known as the Dispatch and 9-1-1 Center, are now complete. This project was made possible by a $160,000 grant from the Texas Eastern 9-1-1 Network.

During the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth expressed appreciation to the Texas Eastern 9-1-1 Network and everyone involved in planning, funding, and completing the project. 👏

Improvements include upgraded technology and software and new workstations and consoles designed to enhance the center’s ability to manage emergency communications.

Marshall's Emergency Communications Center serves as a Public Safety Answering Point, receiving 9-1-1 calls for service and coordinating emergency responses for police, fire, and medical services.

“Modern emergency communications centers depend on reliable, advanced technology to
ensure dispatchers have the tools they need to receive information, communicate with first
responders, and help coordinate an effective response,” Chief Carruth said. “This investment
strengthens our emergency communications capabilities and ultimately helps us to better serve and protect the citizens of Marshall and the surrounding communities.”

“These improvements represent an important investment in the safety of our community,”
Carruth said. “We appreciate everyone who played a part in making this project possible.”

Tips for Calling 9-1-1:
✅ Give location first. This includes the address or nearby landmarks.
✅ Stay calm. Speak clearly.
✅ Text to 911 if unable to speak.

A special THANK YOU to the organizers of the Sanford St. Annual Reunion for the invitation! 👮‍♂️💙

The Marshall Police Department hopes everyone has a great time on August 29th. Enjoy the music, enjoy your friends and family, and make some good memories.

Have fun. Be respectful. Look out for one another. Don’t drink and drive. And remember—the best parties are the ones where everybody gets home safely and nobody leaves with paperwork.

Thanks again for the invitation, Sanford St. We’ll see y’all around. 👀🚔

📚✏️ Back to School is Here! 🚌

Marshall ISD students return to class on Thursday, August 13, and that means more children, school buses, and crossing guards will be on our streets.

As the new school year begins, the Marshall Police Department reminds everyone to:
• Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
• Stop for school buses when required by law.
• Put away distractions and stay alert for children walking or riding bicycles.
• Allow extra travel time during the busy morning and afternoon hours.

Let's work together to make sure every student gets to and from school safely. We wish all students, teachers, staff, and families a safe and successful school year!
