The Landis Volunteer Fire Department is excited to share some great news with our community! Thanks to grants made available through the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), we’ve been able to make major upgrades to our equipment in 2025.

The photo highlights a $5,000 grant from the Nutella Corporation that allowed us to upgrade essential personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes modern SCBA air tanks, masks, and breathing apparatus, along with protective turnout gear such as pants, jackets, helmets, gloves, and face and neck protection. These upgrades help ensure our firefighters are better protected while serving our community.

Through NVFC, Landis VFD also received additional support, including a pallet of water from Anheuser-Busch (delivered by McBride Distributing of Fayetteville, AR) and two cases of electrolyte powder from DripDrop. These resources help support firefighter health and hydration while working in the field.

NVFC membership has opened the door to valuable opportunities for our department, including access to training resources, discussion forums, and a wide range of grants, giveaways, discounts, and educational benefits.

We are incredibly grateful to the National Volunteer Fire Council and our grant partners for helping make these upgrades possible. Protecting our firefighters means better protection for the community we serve—and we couldn’t do it without this support.

That time of the year. Becarful!! Remember call before you start fighting your fire to insure we can be in route quick. Even if you think you can get it out by your self. Every second counts.

Wildfire Danger: Moderate

Wildfire danger across Arkansas is currently moderate. Fires can start from accidents and may spread under the right conditions. Please stay alert and use extra caution with outdoor burning, equipment, or any activity that could cause sparks.

Volunteer fire departments are essential partners in Arkansas’ wildfire response. Their local knowledge and quick action are critical to protecting our communities, property, and natural resources.

To support their efforts, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture is offering 75 wildland fire suppression kits to rural volunteer fire departments. Each kit includes wildfire-resistant gear and essential tools like rakes, gloves, backpack water pumps, and more.

Applications are open through September 30, 2025.

Access to clean drinking water is critical for keeping firefighters safe, healthy, and performing at their best, especially during wildfires and extended responses in extreme heat. A huge thank you to and for donating emergency drinking water to help support the Landis Volunteer Fire Department this summer, and to McBride Distributing, Fayetteville, AR for delivering to our station!

This donation is part of Anheuser-Busch’s Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program, which provides clean water to volunteer departments during wildfire season. Learn more at

Keeping firefighters hydrated during long incidents or disasters such as wildfires is a critical need for fire departments. This program supports departments in meeting that need.
