The City of Marshall (City Hall), Municipal Court, Water Billing Office and Public Library will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. The Public Library will also be closed Saturday, September 6.

*******Garbage and recycling schedules in Marshall will occur as scheduled.**********

All City of Marshall offices will re-open on Tuesday, September 8.

And she does it all while working as the Director of Community Engagement for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children).

📣 City of Marshall Celebrates Upgrades to its Emergency Communications Center

The City hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, August 28, at the Marshall Police Department to mark the completion of significant upgrades to the Emergency Communications Center, strengthening public safety services for Marshall and surrounding communities.

🚨 The upgrades to the Emergency Communications Center, which is commonly known as the Dispatch and 9-1-1 Center, are now complete. This project was made possible by a $160,000 grant from the Texas Eastern 9-1-1 Network.

During the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth expressed appreciation to the Texas Eastern 9-1-1 Network and everyone involved in planning, funding, and completing the project. 👏

Improvements include upgraded technology and software and new workstations and consoles designed to enhance the center’s ability to manage emergency communications.

Marshall's Emergency Communications Center serves as a Public Safety Answering Point, receiving 9-1-1 calls for service and coordinating emergency responses for police, fire, and medical services.

“Modern emergency communications centers depend on reliable, advanced technology to
ensure dispatchers have the tools they need to receive information, communicate with first
responders, and help coordinate an effective response,” Chief Carruth said. “This investment
strengthens our emergency communications capabilities and ultimately helps us to better serve and protect the citizens of Marshall and the surrounding communities.”

“These improvements represent an important investment in the safety of our community,”
Carruth said. “We appreciate everyone who played a part in making this project possible.”

The City of Marshall is thankful for Mary Lynne O’Neal, vice chair of the Main Street Advisory Board.

Mary Lynne was born and raised in Marshall. She loves music and works as an on-air personality and advertising executive at KMHT Radio. She supports local business and puts her talents to work in meaningful ways to help others. 👏

The City is looking for more volunteers like Mary Lynne. Applications for Boards and Commissions are now being accepted.

📣 A New Municipal Court Judge Has Been Sworn In

The City of Marshall is pleased welcome the Honorable Judge Jim Ammerman II as the new Municipal Court Judge.

The appointment was unanimously approved by the Marshall City Council during a Special-
Called Meeting on Aug. 21. Judge Ammerman was sworn in on Aug. 24 by the Honorable Judge Joe Black.

“We are pleased to welcome Judge Ammerman to this important position,” said Mayor Amy
Ware. “His experience and commitment to public service are valuable assets to our Municipal Court and to the residents of Marshall.”

Judge Ammerman brings decades of legal and judicial experience to the position. He
served as the County Court at Law Judge for Harrison County starting in 1997 and won re-election four times, presiding over juvenile, misdemeanor, civil and estate matters for 18 years.

Harrison County saw more than a 60 percent reduction in juvenile arrests between 2005 and 2010 because of the diversion programs he helped to implement. His last term ended in 2014 and he returned to the private practice of law.

Judge Ammerman holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas School of Law and is a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces. 🇺🇸

The city’s new Municipal Court Judge has been a resident of Marshall since 1963. He and his
wife, Tiffany, are members of the First Methodist Church of Marshall and are proud parents and
grandparents.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve as the Municipal Court Judge and will endeavor to provide fair but firm service in my role,” Judge Ammerman said.

The Municipal Court handles cases within the court’s jurisdiction, including Class C misdemeanors, traffic offenses and violations of city ordinances. The court is committed to
providing fair, impartial and efficient administration of justice.
