The Marshall community is invited to join your neighbors, the Parks & Recreation Department, and
SWT Design to review draft recommendations for the Parks Master Plan at an Open House with light
refreshments. This event will be held on:
Tuesday September 27, 2022 at the Martin Center (1985 S. Odell Avenue) from 5:30 – 7:30pm.
This planning process initiated in February 2022 and has received significant support and input from
the community as a foundation for these draft recommendations. The engagement and input received
included 626 participants responding to the online survey and numerous discussions and feedback
from residents and park visitors at the February 11th Winterwarming basketball games, March 8th Open
House #1, and the June 21st Street Food Throwdown food truck event.
We are now looking for additional input from the community as we finalize the recommendations
that will guide the Parks and Recreation Department in providing a parks system that meeting the
needs of the Marshall Community over the next 20 years. The draft recommendations consider items
such as:
- Trails within the parks and connections to the community
- Consideration of new or expanded parks within the City of Marshall
- Care of existing park amenities: shelters, playgrounds, athletic fields, courts, etc.
- Removal or existing and/or addition of new amenities within the Parks
- Programs and Events offered within the Parks and through partnerships
- Potential for the removal of the Indian Foothills Park pool
At the Open House you can review the recommendations in more detail and discuss them with your
neighbors and the planning team. We are looking for your thoughts and feedback on these
recommendations and what you would prioritize for the Marshall Parks System.
This is a master plan for the City of Marshall, and we look forward to the continued participation of the
community in defining an overall vision and guide for the parks system. If you have any questions
about this meeting or the master plan process, please reach out to Chad Unterreiner, Director of Parks
and Recreation.
