If you did not hear the outdoor warning sirens today, this is why.

Due to overcast skies and the chance of rain in the area, today’s Marshall County outdoor warning siren testing was canceled.

Weekly siren testing normally takes place every Tuesday at 9:00 AM when weather conditions permit. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Marshall County Communications and Marshall County 911.

🌪️ What do I do if I hear the tornado sirens? 🌪️

🚨Marshall County tests the tornado sirens every Tuesday at 9am 🚨
- If you hear the sirens during this time, and there is no active storms in the area - No action is needed

🌪️ Any other time the sirens indicate that there is an active threat of a tornado in the area 🌪️
🏠Seek Shelter Immediately - If you’re outside, get inside as quickly as possible
⬇️Get to the Lowest Level - Go to the basement if there is one available, if not find an interior room usually a bathroom or closet on the lowest level
🪟Stay Away from Windows - Flying debris is a big concern. Put as many walls between you and the outside as possible
📲Stay Informed - Listen to a weather radio, local news, or check online with the NWS for updates. Tornado sirens are meant to get your attention, not to provide all the information

‼️Important Reminder - Tornado sirens are designed to be heard outdoors. Ensure you have ways to receive warning inside your home.

🚓🚒🚑Please refrain from calling 911 or the non-emergency number to ask why the sirens are sounding -
- Use reliable sources for updates such as local news station, weather apps or a NOAA weather radio
- Keeping phone lines clear ensures we can respond quickly to those who need immediate help

♥️Thank you for helping us keep our community safe ♥️
