KFJB LISTENERS-
Today there may some intermittent outages on KFJB as we work on updating things at our tower site. These outages shouldn't last long so just bare with us. We appreciate each & everyone of you & these updates are neccessary.

Heat and humidity will continue through the weekend. Make sure to know the signs of heat illnesses, take breaks when outside, and drink plenty of water!

Update from Marshalltown on Siren Repairs:

The tornado warning siren located on N. 12th Ave. between E. Main St. & E. State St. is out of service until we make repairs.
ALL other sirens should work as normal.

What plans do you have

A communications plan?

A reunification plan?

A home evacuation plan?

A community evacuation plan (awareness)?

A shelter-in-place plan?

A fire emergency plan?

A severe weather plan?

A medical emergency plan?

A power/utility outage plan?

A pet/animal plan?

A financial and document recovery plan?

An emergency supplies plan?

The most important point is to make these plans work together. Every family member should know three things: how they will receive warnings, where they will go, and how they will reconnect. Plans should be practiced and reviewed at least annually and whenever household needs change.

*****UPDATE***** It looks like we have a fix in place that is holding, if you experience ANY issues please call 911 and let us know there is an issue.

We are experiencing some admin line issues, if you are not able to get through please call 911 if you need Police / Fire / Medical until we are operational again. Thank you for your patience.

Occasionally our outdoor warning sirens need to be worked on or tested outside of the "normal" Tuesday 9 a.m. weekly test. At those times, we do our best to coordinate with the maintenance workers to alert those in the area of that siren.

Tomorrow, Marshalltown will be working on a single siren.

Scheduled testing of the outdoor warning siren on E. State and N. 12th Ave. is 8:00 AM tomorrow, Thursday September 3rd.

AND

Currently, Haverhill's siren is not functioning and they are working to remedy the electrical problem.

We will keep you updated on both of these sirens as we receive more information.

* Note: Emergency Management does not own the outdoor warning sirens in cities or the county. These are owned by the jurisdiction the siren is in and the responsibility of those jurisdictions to maintain. Emergency Management helps coordinate maintenance schedules, tests via computer/radio communications daily, alert or test remotely as needed for backup/redundancy, and works to add more sirens in the county/cities by securing grants when possible. 911 (communications center) is responsible as the primary siren activation point on Tuesday testing and during tornado warnings.

Thunderstorms are possible over northern Iowa late tonight into early Wednesday morning. The primary threat with storms will be damaging winds near 75 mph, as well as heavy rain. Hail and even a tornado are also possible. Severe storms should generally diminish by around 4 am, but non-severe showers and storms may continue into the morning hours.
