Transportation grant funding is now available! Local governments and partners can now apply for FY2027-FY2030 federal transportation funding. $10.8 million in Surface Transportation funds are available, and $645,000 in Transportation Alternatives funds are available. Funds can support road, bridge, and Farm-to-Market improvements, trails, safe routes to schools, and more. Deadline to apply is March 13. Visit our website for more information. We just got back interior demolition photos from the Princess Café Upper Story Housing Project in Iowa Falls, and the transformation is already inspiring. The bones of this historic downtown building are full of character—and soon, they’ll be home to two beautiful new housing units right above the Princess Café. This project has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority CDBG Upper Story Housing program.

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition has released results from its statewide Economic & Health Impact Study, and the numbers are impressive. Recreational cycling now contributes $1.4 billion annually to Iowa’s economy, with every county seeing benefits from trail use and bike tourism. Even rural counties can see over $500,000/year in tourism benefit from cycling. Check out the study here:

The Iowa Department of Transportation is proposing safety improvements at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Durham Avenue/3rd Ave SW in State Center, including a reduced-conflict intersection (RCI) to help reduce crashes.
