Binford House

Binford House The Binford House, owned and operated by the Marshalltown Federation of Women's Clubs, is available for small group rentals, parties, and celebrations.

Binford House was built in 1874 by Thaddeus Binford, a young attorney from Ohio. The house is meticulously preserved as an exquisite example of Victorian Italianate architecture. The Binford House was given to the Marshalltown Federation of Women’s Clubs by Jessie Binford, the daughter of Thaddeus and Angelica Binford in 1930. Binford House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in

1984. Renowned for warm hospitality and delicious home-cooked food, Binford House is a great location for everything from a wedding reception to a brunch, tea party or dinner. Fifteen foot ceilings with ornate chandeliers grace four adjoining rooms that hold up to one hundred people for receptions or fifty people for sit-down dining.

Step back in time and join us for an elegant High Tea at the historic Binford House Sunday, September 20th @ 1pm. Enjoy a delightful afternoon of fine teas, delicious treats, and warm fellowship. Traditional tea attire is welcome, and gloves and hats are encouraged for a touch of fun and elegance. Every cup shared and every donation helps support the preservation of the historic Binford House.

Tickets are $30 per person.

Next Saturday we have a really fun event planned for you as we celebrate and learn about the women that came before us who fought tirelessly for the rights we have today. Join us to Celebrate 106 years of women’s voting rights at the Binford House Women’s Suffrage Celebration on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Enjoy an open house with short presentations by Pete Grady at 11:15, 12:15, 1:15, and 2:15 plus a charcuterie cup, dessert, and iced tea or lemonade. Saturday, August 8, doors open at 6:00, dinner service begins at 7:00. Menu as follows: main course of carne asada with Chipotle & honey sauce, Calabacitas side, posole verde soup, blue corn piñon pancake appetizer, and cinnamon churro bar dessert.
