The dumpster is pretty full already! There might be a little bit of room on the door side if you can throw it up and over the side but I definitely don’t recommend opening the door at this point! They are going to pick up the dumpster tomorrow and deliver another so we can start with an empty one going into the weekend!

We should be receiving 2027 ATV stickers early next week.

At this time we will only be receiving 20 ATV stickers.

All NEW ATV registrations will need to be done in the office.

Renewals will not be done in the office and will need to be completed online until further notice. Please follow the link for online registrations.

*2026 ATV stickers do not expire until June 30*

This online service allows you to register your ATV and Snowmobile with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Marshfield folks,

Beginning Tuesday, May 5, there will be a dumpster available to Marshfield residents only, located at the Town sand pile on Northfield Road. We intend to have it available for the rest of the month of May to assist residents with yard cleanup. There will also be a scrap metal trailer available.

DUMPSTER RULES:
✔️ACCEPTED:
Debris, junk, junk, and more junk. Does not have to be bagged.
❌NOT ACCEPTED:
Metal
Paint
Oils/Fluids
Asbestos
Brush/limbs
Tires

The end door is currently open. Please try to throw as far into the container as you can.

METAL TRAILER RULES:
✔️ACCEPTED METAL:
Steel, iron
Aluminum (cans, siding, rims)
Copper (wire, pipe)
Brass fixtures
Appliances (metal only)
Auto parts (rotors, radiators, etc.)

❌ NOT ACCEPTED METAL:
Trash or household garbage
Wood, plastic, cardboard
Furniture, mattresses
Tires
Electronics with screens (TVs, computers)
Essentially, if it’s not metal, don’t put it on the trailer.

PLEASE be respectful of other town residents and town property. Please be sure that everything you dispose of makes it into the container and do not leave a mess. If you can’t get it into the dumpster, DO NOT leave it leaning up against the dumpster as we have no way to put it in there. You can leave metal next to the metal trailer if you can’t load it on. There will be a camera on the premises. Let’s make this work so it can potentially be a service we offer every year! Feel free to contact the town office with any questions.

The Marshfield Town Office extends our deepest condolences on the passing of Dennis Bowker, a dedicated member of the Marshfield Fire Department who served his community with pride and commitment for 60 years.

Dennis came across as being a little ornery, but with some persistence and a little bit of harassment, you could earn one of those rare Dennis Bowker smirks. When a fire call went out, we knew he would be the first one to show up at the fire station. We know his level of dedication will leave a lasting mark on all who served alongside him.

His years of service and commitment to protecting Marshfield and surrounding communities will not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with Dennis’ family, friends, and fellow firefighters at the Marshfield Fire Department during this difficult time.

The Machias Town Office (17 Stackpole) is proud to host the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles for road tests for first-time drivers.

AND SOON…

We’ll be welcoming BMV4ME, a traveling BMV service that will visit monthly and offer:

✔️ Driver’s license renewals
✔️ REAL ID services
✔️ License photos
✔️ And more

This is a big step toward making essential services more accessible right here in Machias.

The Marshfield Town Office will be closed (at least temporarily) on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 due to a power outage.

The Marshfield Town Office will be open from 8-12 on Thursday, April 2. We are closing at noon for training.

The Machias D**e will be closed from April 1 through April 30th.

Some traffic is being detoured through Marshfield so plan on extra time to get where you need to be and be cautious of extra traffic coming through town!
