On August 19th, the Mart Police Department along with the assistance of Groesbeck Police Department, the U.S. Marshall's Office Task Force including McLennan County F.A.S.T. team, Bellmead Police Department and the U.S. Marshall's Office apprehended Urbano Guerrero Jr. at his residence in Groesbeck. This arrest is the columniation of a yearlong investigation into the downloading and distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Sgt. Douglas as an affiliate of the Texas Attorney General's Office Crimes Against Children's Task Force began the investigation after a report that Guerrero had uploaded CSAM. He was initially charged in Limestone County for the images but after a full forensic examination of his computer, several thousand images of CSAM were found and sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for comparison. NCMEC found that over 1,000 of the images were of known victims who had previously been identified and rescued from abuse and/or human trafficking. The case against Guerrero was presented by Sgt. Douglas of the Mart Police Department to a Federal Grand Jury where they issued a federal indictment for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Material-Photographs.

The City of Mart Police Department extends our congratulations to Sergeant Rob Douglas as well as the rest of these officers and commend them on a job well done! We are proud to be able to work beside them as well as all of the other outstanding officers in Central Texas.

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement was honored to present the State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor to Sergeant Robin Douglas of the City of Mart Police Department, Deputy Constable Robert Leathers of McLennan County Constable Pct. 1, Sergeant Joseph Ballew of the Mclennan County Sheriff's Office and Game Warden’s Michael Serbanic and Michael Ferguson of Texas Parks and Wildlife.

While Central Texas was experiencing heavy rainfall last year, these law enforcement professionals observed a man’s vehicle about 100 yards from his driveway wedged between some trees and just 15 feet away from a creek bank. They worked together to rescue the man and pull him out just seconds before his car was fully submerged by the rising waters.

On July 22, 2026, in relation to an investigation concerning the upload and storage of Child Po*******hy, Officers from the Mart Police Department served a search warrant on Aaron Compton at his place of employment in Waco for his cell phone. Because this was only a search warrant, Compton was not taken into custody. After Officers seized the cell phone, they left to serve a similar search warrant on Compton’s residence in Bellmead, Compton left his place of employment and was spotted driving a vehicle with a registration that had been expired for several months by a Deputy Constable. Upon initiating a traffic stop, Compton fled the scene and ultimately wound up in a standoff with officers for several hours at Franklin and University Parks Drive in Waco. During the Mart Police Department investigation, CSAM images were discovered on the suspect’s device and he was charged accordingly. We would like to thank McLennan County Constable Precinct 1’s office, McLennan County Sheriff’s Department and the Waco Police Department for a favorable outcome with this situation.

City of Mart Police Department’s K9 Chance has received donation of body armor

City of Mart Police Department, TX - K9 Chance has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Chance’s vest was embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,397 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. A McLennan County man was arrested Sunday night after authorities say he set fire to his wife’s clothing inside their home and was found with multiple fi****ms despite being a convicted felon, an arrest affidavit states.
