Rin Lee of Rin on the Road, https://youtube.com/?si=CWUvLckgMK4mN9lc is walking across the United States. She started 90 days ago in Daytona Beach, FL and she plans to finish in October at Seaside, OR. People across the country are following along. In fact, Jen and Hannah from Dardenne Prairie watched her on YouTube and knew they had to bring her something homemade. They arranged to meet up with her at the Peers Store bringing with them homemade granola bars to fuel Rin’s journey. You can find Jen and Hannah standing next to Rin in the second picture with our band for the day, Pik’n and Lik’n.

Join me in wishing Rin Happy Trails as she continues her hike across America. And a big thank you to Jen and Hannah for showing your Missouri hospitality and welcoming Rin to our state.

Congratulations to Connie and Dan Burkhardt, who just received the Master Conservationist award!!!

Lewis and Clark were in the neighborhood 222 years ago today. They camped near the mouth of Charrette Creek. The Katy Trail State Park crosses Charrette Creek just a mile east of Peers. Read about other early explorers who visited this area in "The Village Guestbook" chapter of this book!

Nothing wrong here, just the bees hanging out on their front porch enjoying the music this weekend.

What you’re seeing is called bee bearding, a natural behavior where bees temporarily cluster on the outside of a hive. It usually happens when the colony is warm, crowded, or just taking a short break while house bees regulate temperature and ventilation inside.

It can look dramatic, but it’s just bees doing what bees do best: staying together and keeping the hive balanced.

The Bottlesnakes are playing on the porch until 3. Have you ever seen a piano on the porch?

We've been keeping something under wraps... 🤫 But now it's time to share it with you all!

From the start, our focus has been on community and keeping everything local. That's why we are thrilled to announce that a new mural titled "Dutzow Landing" will be displayed on the Swallows Nest Dutzow Landing cafe building!

We commissioned local artist Bryan Haynes to bring his sketches to life in the beautiful mural you see here. And now that the painting is complete, we are ready to make this mural a reality!

Bryan Haynes is a Missouri artist known for his “New Regionalism” style, blending visual storytelling, history, figures, and landscape. Some of his work celebrates the beauty, history, and character of the Missouri River region, which makes him such a meaningful fit for this project.

As Dutzow Landing takes shape, this mural will be something our town can be proud of, and hopefully become a Missouri landmark along the Katy Trail.
Stay tuned to find out when you can come see the mural for yourself! Thank you to Bryan, Swallows Nest Dutzow Landing , Katy Bike Rental, and all the locals who continue to make this possible.
