Big things are happening in the Carpentry program at the Floyd County ATC!
Each year our carpentry students take on the task of designing and building a “Tiny Home”, In the past these homes have been auctioned off to support continuation of the program.
However, this year the students and instructors wanted to do something special.
Instead of auctioning off the home, the Floyd County ATC carpentry class will be donating the home to a deserving military veteran.
The students will be gaining real-world experience as the work to frame, build, and finish the home, while learning valuable skills to help them in their future careers.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work these student are putting into this project and even more proud that their work will help give back to someone who has served our country.
Applications for veterans interested in receiving the home will be opening soon, we will be sharing more information in the coming weeks.
We encourage students and families in our community to continue supporting the programs at the Floyd County ATC and to consider the many opportunities available in the skilled trades. Careers in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, welding, and other trades are in high demand and provide meaningful ways for young people to build strong futures while serving their communities.
