Itโs been an action-packed past week or so here in Martinez โ so busy, in fact, that itโs been hard to share everything with yaโll in real time! ๐ซฃ๐
Hereโs a recap though of the events, celebrations, and community gatherings I was proud to support! โ๏ธ๐
Sunday, May 10
I joined Chief White for an evening ride-along with our police department, spending three hours patrolling our city from end to end. This experience gave me an even greater appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and hard work our Martinez Police Department officers put in every day to help keep our residents and neighborhoods safe. ๐๐๐พ
Monday, May 11
I was proud to stand alongside refinery workers represented by United Steelworkers Local 5 on the picket line outside the Marathon Refinery in support of fair pay and safer working conditions for our local refinery workers. ๐ช๐พ๐ชง
Tuesday, May 12
I attended the 4th Annual Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Commemorative Celebration hosted by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. The event featured an incredible showcase of culture, music, and inspiring stories of resilience, achievement, and community. ๐๐งง๐๐บ
Wednesday, May 13
I joined the Martinez Chamber of Commerce & Visit Martinez - California in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Contra Costa Stadium Cinemas, complete with a special screening of Top Gun and movie tickets and concessions at 1986 prices! ๐ฟ๐ฅ
Fun fact: my very first job was at this theater during the summer of 1996 between my junior and senior year at Alhambra High School โ so this celebration was especially meaningful for me. ๐ค
Thursday, May 14
I stopped by William Welch Wines ๐ทon Main Street for a Chamber-hosted business networking mixer. Afterwards, I headed over to Five Suns Brewing to help welcome back the Martinez Sturgeon! BTW, be sure to show them some love โค๏ธ at their home opener this Wednesday, May 20th @ 6:00pm! โพ๏ธ๐๐๐พ
Saturday, May 16
I participated in our second sesquicentennial hike with Mayor Brianne Cohen Zorn, this time along the George Miller Regional Trail under beautiful blue skies and a gentle breeze. It was another great opportunity to celebrate our community while enjoying the outdoors together. ๐ถ๐พโโ๏ธ๐ฅพ๐
After making a quick pit stop States Coffee & Mercantile, I then popped over to the Shell (MRC) Clubhouse to check out the Martinez Arts Association Annual Swan Day celebration honoring local women artists and their incredible creativity and contributions to our community. ๐จ๐ฉโ๐จ
As always, Iโm grateful for every opportunity to connect with residents, answer questions, hear your ideas and concerns, and continue working together to help ensure Martinez remains a safe, welcoming, and thriving city for all!
