Applications for the Contra Costa County Fish and Wildlife Committee's Fish and Wildlife Propagation Fund are due by Monday, July 27, 2026. Non-profit organizations, schools, and government agencies interested in enhancing the fish and wildlife resources of Contra Costa County are eligible to apply.

Projects awarded through the Fund must benefit the fish and wildlife resources of the County. The Fish and Wildlife Committee strongly encourages applications related to the following:
🐾 Improving habitat,
🐾 Scientific research,
🐾 Public education,
🐾 Threatened and endangered species, or
🐾 Resolving human/wildlife interaction issues.

In addition to the above areas of interest, the Fish and Wildlife Committee wishes to fund one or more projects that increase collaboration with law enforcement agencies and community cultural organizations related to enforcement issues and education focusing on communities that may be unaware of local fish and game laws. Projects that provide multilingual signage and educational materials are encouraged.

For more information and to view the full grant application, please refer to the Request For Proposals at: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/grant.

Happy ! The critters using the culverts and wildlife crossings under Kirker Pass Road spent this spring striking a pose for the wildlife movement monitoring cameras. The critters are busy using the habitat and crossings as traffic zips past on the road. The East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy along with the East Bay Regional Park District are studying how wildlife use the crossings.

The East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy is accepting funding proposals for our Science and Research Grant Program. The Conservancy is looking to fund small science and research grants that will contribute to our understanding of special status species and how to better manage their habitat. There is a total of $30,000 in available funds for this two-year cycle.

Under this Grant Program, the Conservancy may fund research that endeavors to illuminate, and where possible to resolve, uncertainties associated with management of natural communities and special status species. Research selected for funding will aid in achieving the biological goals and objectives of the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservation Plan/Natural Community Conservation Plan and inform management actions and/or contribute to the general understanding of target species.

The Request for Proposals along with more details about the program can be found at https://www.cocohcp.org/263/Research. Proposals will be accepted until August 3, 2026 at 5 p.m.
