The Prosecuting Attorney of Berkeley County prosecutes all violations of state law, both felonies and misdemeanors, in state Circuit and Magistrate courts. The duties of the Prosecuting Attorney include representing petitioners on cases of child abuse, neglect and mental hygiene proceedings. The Prosecuting Attorney's office also is responsible for the Berkeley County Victim's Assistance Program.
This program was created to assist victims of crime, in effort to ensure they are afforded fair and compassionate treatment throughout the judicial system process and protected from further victimization.
