Even if you have not registered you are still welcome to come to the Genealogy After Hours event. Here's what you need to know: 1. You must arrive before the library closes on Friday, October 16 at 5:30 PM and preferably after 4:30 PM, but if you want to camp out here all day, that is up to you.
2. Bring a sack supper. A microwave and refrigerator are available in the Large Meeting Space for your convenience.
3. If you want to learn how to use our memory station, bring a thumb/flash drive and some photos you want to digitize.
4. Bring any devices, paperwork, books, etc. that you might need to work on your family history. Beginners are welcome! We'll get you started if that's where you are at right now.
5. Three webinars will be shown courtesy of the genealogy department of the Waco (Texas) Public Library. They are available exclusive on this night and will not be shown again anywhere to the best of our knowledge.
6. For Teens and Adults who are truly interested in investigating their family history. Feel free to bring a friend who fits this interest!

REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Plan to arrive at the library before we close at 5:30 pm. Those who arrive early (4:30 PM) will be given a tour of the genealogy department and have time to begin some research.

Give Like Dolly!

Give Like Dolly Day is September 25, a global day dedicated to supporting local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Programs and honoring Dolly’s extraordinary legacy of inspiring children to dream big and develop a lifelong love of reading. As Dolly often said, “If you can read, you can do anything, dream anything and be anything.” There are three ways to donate to support children in Morgan County:
1 - Mail a check to the Morgan County Public Library Foundation at PO Box 1532, Martinsville 46151 (or just drop it off at the Library.)
2 - Go online to ImaginationLibrary.com. Make sure you check the box that says "I would like to designate this donation to a specific Imagination Library Local Program Partner" and then select IN-Morgan County.
3 - Donate on Venmo!

On October 16, 2026 the library will be holding a special event: Genealogy After Hours. You will be able to choose your own adventure at the Morgan County Public Library from 4:30 - 10 PM. You may stay as little or as long as you like, but PLEASE be sure to arrive before the library closes at 5:30 PM. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to join in the adventure, which will include the following:
an opportunity to further your genealogy research (you are welcome to bring any research you have already done, a tablet or laptop, etc.), View any one or all of the webinars that will be shown (courtesy of the Waco-McClellan Library Genealogy Center), and learn how to digitize photographs using our Memory Station (bring a flash drive and some photographs to digitize). You may do any of all of the above.

Like many of you, we were devastated to hear about the passing of Dolly Parton. In 1995, Dolly started the Imagination Library in honor of her father, Robert Lee Parton. She said he was the smartest man she’d ever known and she had often wondered what else he could have done if he’d had the ability to read and write. Before his passing, her father said that the Imagination Library was the greatest thing his daughter had ever done.
Dolly’s family has requested that that donations be made to the Imagination Library as a way to honor Dolly Parton and her legacy. If you would like to honor Dolly in this way, please visit https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/ Check the box next to “ I would like to designate this donation to a specific Imagination Library Local Program Partner” and choose “IN-Morgan County” to ensure your donation benefits children locally.
