As we close out EMS week, we want to thank all of our public safety partners. Morgan County Public Safety DispatchMonroe Twp Fire DistrictBrown Twp Fire-Rescue to name a few. I apologize if I forgot anyone. From food to snacks to simply thanking us when you saw us. It doesn’t go unnoticed and we’re thankful.

With that being said, we want to challenge our followers and anyone that sees our page. You’ve seen us celebrate police day and week. Firefighter day and week. Now EMS day and week. Our challenge to you is to not wait for a week to be thankful of our public safety providers. Celebrate these men and women from all services daily. We don’t need the snacks or food everyday(but we’ll never turn them away!). Wave when you see us out. Hold the door open if we come into the gas station. Move over when you see or hear us coming down the street with our lights on. A simple thank you goes a long way.

We’re grateful to serve the residents of Morgan County and will continue to do our best everyday to provide you all with the care and compassion you’ve come to expect!

Each year during the third week of May, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is recognized across our nation to honor EMS agencies and the critical services they provide to their communities. May 17–23, 2026, marks the 52nd anniversary of National EMS Week. In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to recognize EMS professionals and the important work they perform each day, and this year Governor Mike Braun also issued a proclamation recognizing EMS Week throughout Indiana.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the collaboration that takes place every day between EMS professionals, 911 dispatchers, hospitals, public health, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, emergency management, and countless other community partners — all working together in the best interests of the patients and communities we serve.

During EMS Week, we especially want to recognize the men and women of Morgan County EMS for their professionalism, dedication, and compassion. Every day, they respond to emergencies across Morgan County, often during people’s most difficult moments, providing critical care, guidance, reassurance, and lifesaving interventions. Whether responding to serious trauma, medical emergencies, public health needs, or community assistance calls, their commitment to service makes a lasting impact on the lives of our citizens.

We also recognize that emergency medical services do not operate alone. The strength of EMS in Morgan County depends on the partnerships shared with local fire departments, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, dispatchers, first responders, neighboring EMS agencies, and healthcare professionals throughout the region. Together, these partnerships help ensure patients receive timely, coordinated, and compassionate care.

The work of EMS is often seen only in passing — an ambulance responding with lights and sirens or crews working quietly behind the scenes. But EMS is far more than transportation. It is a complex, highly skilled profession built on teamwork, clinical excellence, decision-making, and human connection. Behind every response are providers managing uncertainty, critical decisions, advanced medical equipment, and emotionally difficult situations, all while remaining focused on the patient in front of them.

Despite the many challenges facing emergency services today, the one constant continues to be the resilience, professionalism, and dedication of the frontline personnel who answer the call every day.

While EMS Week provides an important opportunity to recognize these efforts, the impact of EMS is felt year-round. Every call answered, every patient comforted, and every life touched reflects the mission and commitment of those who serve in emergency medical services.

To all EMS professionals, first responders, healthcare partners, and public safety agencies who serve Morgan County and our surrounding communities — thank you for your service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to improving outcomes together.

We don’t bicker with them as much as the fire department, but they have tasers. So it makes sense. Nonetheless, we care for these men and women and they’re a part of our public safety family. Happy National Police Week!

To all the moms in EMS — the ones answering tones at 3am, missing holidays, working long shifts, and still somehow making it home to be superheroes for their families — Happy Mother’s Day.

Thank you for comforting strangers on their worst days while still giving your own families your love, strength, and heart. The compassion you bring to this job doesn’t stop on the ambulance or in the station — it carries into every part of your life.

Today we celebrate the moms who save lives at work and nurture lives at home. Your families may share you with the world, but they get to call a real hero “Mom.” 🚑❤️

Today’s a big day for us! At approximately 2pm today we opened the doors to a brand new EMS station! Many of you have seen its progress on SR 67 next to the new recycling center. This station will be assisting our public safety partners from Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department on all responses in “District 4” 24/7! We’re excited for this expansion of Morgan County EMS and look forward to the warm days coming up so we can get out and start to meet our new neighbors!!

Matthew’s smile, joy and enthusiasm is a good lesson for everyone. You can find it even in the small things…like ducks! Now, as promised, this is directly from Matthew,

“Everyone go on out to Casey’s on Indianapolis Road in Mooresville, Indiana to support autism awareness by getting a duck from Matthew Hovey. He will be there until 10pm tonight. He is raising awareness for autism by passing out free rubber duckies. Matthew says autism is not his disability. It’s his different ability. It’s actually his superpower!”

We couldn’t agree more Matthew!!

Last week we were honored to participate with several public safety agencies in Morgan County for a mock crash scenario. The intent was to bring awareness to the realities of drunk driving. Especially by those underage members of our community. For any of the parents that follow our page, please talk with your kids. Give them a safe space to go even when they may have broken the rules. No one wants to meet us after an event like this.
