🌱 Growing Leaders Through FFA!

Bassett and Magna Vista FFA officers spent the day collaborating, learning, and growing as leaders at the Peaks Retreat Center in Bedford. Students tackled challenges designed to strengthen their leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

Afterward, both officer teams attended the Southridge Area Chapter Officer Leadership Training, where they participated in workshops led by Virginia FFA State Officers.

Now comes the best part: bringing those new skills back home! These student leaders will put what they learned into action as they lead chapter meetings, activities, and events throughout the school year.

We’re proud to see our Bengals and Warriors growing together and preparing to lead! 💙💛

📚 National Read a Book Day just got easier!

National Read a Book Day is September 6, and we’ve got plenty of good reads waiting for you!

Stop by the School Board Office or visit the bookshelves downstairs in the Henry County, Virginia Administration Building lobby, find a book that catches your eye, and take it home to enjoy. The books are FREE and yours to keep!

You can also visit a local bookstore or library and pick out something new to read. Whether you love a good mystery, an inspiring story, something that makes you laugh, or a book to share, there’s a story waiting for you.

So unplug for a little while, find a cozy spot, and get lost in a good book.

Bassett High School Varsity Football Game Time Change 9/4/26

Due to concerns regarding the heat and the safety of our players, families, and fans, Bassett High School has moved the kickoff time for Friday night’s Varsity football game against Gretna High School to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 4.

Gates will open at 6:30 PM.

We appreciate your understanding as we make this adjustment to help ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone. We look forward to seeing you there!🐾🏈

☕🎮 From specialty coffee to eSports competition, the Bengals are putting their skills to work!

Yesterday marked the opening of the Bengal Cafe under the direction of Mrs. Thacker! Bassett High School culinary students are showcasing their skills by preparing specialty coffees for staff throughout the building. Students handle the entire process, from making the drinks to delivering each order. It’s a staff favorite and another great example of the hands-on learning happening through BHS CTE!

Meanwhile, the Bengals eSports team kicked off another exciting round of competition! Under the direction of Mr. Martin, team members are sharpening their skills as they prepare to compete against schools across the Commonwealth of Virginia. The other half of the team takes their turn tomorrow!

Whether they’re brewing, delivering, strategizing, or competing, our Bengals are learning by doing! 🐯

Meadow View students and staff came together for their first assembly of the year, kicking things off with a little motivation and a lot of energy!

🏈 While most of us were still hitting the snooze button… the Bengals were already on the field!

The Bassett Bengals football team reported bright and early at 5:30 a.m. today to suit up for a 6 a.m. practice, beating the afternoon heat and getting the work in before the school day began.

After practice, it was showers and a hearty team breakfast in the cafeteria before heading to class!

Now THAT is dedication. Early mornings, hard work, and Bengal pride! 🐯🏈

Principal Eric Ross recently surprised Holly Gravely, Abria Johnson, and Amber Willard with a High Riser Pop-Up in recognition of the patience, positivity, and care they bring to Stanleytown Elementary each day.

“Their calm and encouraging approach helps create a supportive environment where students can learn, grow, and be successful. Thank you for making a positive difference!” shared Mr. Ross.
