NEW APPARATUS IN SERVICE!

Green Township Fire Rescue is excited to announce that a new apparatus, Rescue 151 is officially in service!

Rescue 151 is a Darley Tactical Pumper built on an International chassis, and is equipped with a 400-gallon water tank, and Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) with a 25-gallon foam cell.

Rescue 151 will respond on medical calls, technical rescue calls such as rope rescue and ice rescue incidents and serve as a secondary responding unit or backup unit for motor vehicle collisions as well as other call types.

Its versatility will allow us to provide additional firefighting capabilities in areas where our larger engines may be unable to access, such as areas where crossing a bridge is required or small private lanes.

It is equipped with attack and supply fire hose, hand tools, SCBA, rope and ice rescue equipment, and a battery powered combination extrication tool for vehicle collision where someone is entrapped as well as basic stabilization wedges and chocks.

This addition gives our department greater flexibility to respond to a variety of emergencies and better serve the residents and communities we protect.

Thank you to the Green Twp. Trustee and Advisory Board for making this purchase possible.

We look forward to putting Rescue 151 to work and making the most of its capabilities!

Smoke Detector Alerts Homeowners of Fire Overnight

1:25 A.M. - Engine 151 and automatic aid agencies dispatched to the 4600 Blk of Banta Rd on a reported residence fire. The homeowners called 911 after they were awakened by their smoke detector and noted smoke coming from the exterior of their residence after they safely evacuated.

Engine 151 arrived and quickly located a fire in the attic space of the home. Automatic aid companies arrived and assisted with fire attack and overhaul. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of arrival and crews remained on scene for 1.5 hours to complete salvage and overhaul.

The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental and electrical in nature.

This incident is a great reminder of how important working smoke detectors are in your home. Early warning provides valuable time to recognize a fire, get out safely, and call for help. Ensure your smoke detectors are tested regularly and have working batteries. Smoke detectors save lives!
